Vr6 front wings - passenger

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Had my car at the body shop recently to get some car park dings removed and the chap has said that I have rust blister on the front passenger arch. Looking to get a replacement.

It's for a 1993 VR6 - will any early type wing fit? Also, if anyone has a drivers side also I would be interested in the pair.

Willing to collect if a reasonable distance from Bournemouth.

Thanks,

ED

Early type wing is different. If small blister you are prob best to repair. Rust free late wings are v hard to find....

Ahh... ok cool, yeah don't think the chap fancied the repair to it so may look at a specialist shop.

If anyone does have them going spare, please let me know 👍👍

You sure it's an early wing you're after? I thought the purpose of the later wings/styling was to accommodate the vr6 having a wider track.......

I have a few pairs of early wings but you need late ones as the styling will not match the bumper.

Also agree that if the dust is only slight get it repaired as non rust ones are hard to find

Thanks - after late type but can only see the early ones available.

Thanks for the info, there's a specialist welder based in Poole called Tricketts Wedling so may see if they wany to repair it. Anyone used them before?

Just to confirm - what is the cut off between early and late type wings? Is it 1993 onwards for late? Does it matter if I got a late type wing off a different model other than a VR? Or is the VR a specific wing? Thanks

92 was the change over for wings bonnet 93 was interior ie dash and door cards. I've got a 92 G60 with late wings and early interior. Any late wing from either a valver or vr will fit same for bonnet. If you go early wings you should really go early bonnet to get panel gaps right. Also grill changed in 92

It is difficult to say whether it can be repaired without seeing the damage. However it the blister is only a inch or so across I think it would be best to cut out all the rust and weld a patch in. Hopefully this can be done without removing the wing.
