1. I went for Hertz 13cm components up front (cost about £80) and a tiny Kenwood (about £100 s/h) under seat sub fitted neatly in the side of the boot (they don't fit under the seats). No amps used and it sounds fine to me with good imaging but without a don't expect earth moving base from a 6 inch sub. Stuart.
2. Hi Peeps, My car (2.0 16v) was missing a radiator cover when I bought it so I bought one off the online parts store (ebay) and fitted it with 2 screws at the front. I noticed that it has a 3rd hole to the rear right and wondered if this is supposed to fit to a bracket of some type. If I'm missing a bracket, has anyone got a one and/or a photograph of one so I know what to look for. Thanks in advance. Stuart.
3. Since dropping the KR cams in the 2.0 9a I figured the car would probably benefit from a rolling road tune up session. I was/am prepared to travel the 300 mile round trip to get me to Stealth, but didn't get any response from them when asking if they could help in setting up the KE-Jet. Anyway due to a lack of response I did some searches and found a Golf GTi driver had lots of praise for RS Tuning in Leeds and thought I'd check on here to see if anyone has used them. Regards, Stuart.
4. Are they 15's or 16's? Your tyre sizing confused me as this suggests 15's. I would be interested if 16's your willing to negotiate. Essex is no good for me (being from Yorkshire) but Preston is do able, possibly Sunday this weekend.
5. For a while I've been experiencing a lack of power steering on some corners. I thought this was due to a slipping belt as could hear it squeal on full lock. Anyway, tonight after changing the belt, it appears that wasn't the problem as I now have steering heavier than my old MGB's. After investigating, my mechanic noted how the pump could be turned with no resistance and he believes the pump is dead. Now I wonder if the pump was the source of a ticking noise the car had, which has now stopped. Anyway, what I want to know is are the pumps listed on Ebay worth trying. I was lead to believe you had to buy recon units but ebay has loads listed. Also do I need any VW specific fluid? I read somewhere that if green coloured filler cap, then it needed some green fluid. My filler cap on the 2.0 1992 9a is red so does any fluid work? Regards, Stuart.
6. Yesterday Christine (she is red and possessed) got her KR cams fitted, new water pump and a cam belt kit. Initial reaction to the KR cams is - subtle, but worth it. Any way since getting treated, the idle has started to pulse when warm. Runs great from cold then about 5 mile of driving the idle started pulsing from 1000 to 1100 rpm, as if I was revving the engine every second. The ISV is regularly cleaned. Any idea's would be appreciated. Also does anyone know of a somewhere (in Yorkshire if possible) who can tune my KJet? Thanks, Stuart.
7. Gonna change my gearbox oil soon and don't know how many bottles I'll need. I was looking at Redline MT-90 as some swear by it, but it comes in quarts and don't know if I'll need 2 or 3 bottles. Any help would be appreciated. Stuart.
8. Hi all, I'm about to have my cams changed to the KR cams. Whilst my mechanic is doing this I figured the cam belt & tensioner should be changed along with the cam connecting chain. Some of the cam kits I've seen include a water pump which I assume must be a preventative measure, rather than a necessity. I'm all for preventative maintenance and wondered if there's anything else worth changing whilst the car is in bits? Any pointers would be appreciated. Regards, Stuart.
9. Bit of a delayed response, but this is a picture of the plug (to right of last fuse) which has a white wire with blue tracer from memory.
10. No plans to turn the corrado into a tractor, lol
11. Been doing a bit of spannering tonight and noticed a small blue plug at the right hand side of my fuse box. It has a single white/blue wire to it but nowhere obvious for it to plug. Anyone know what it is?
12. My 92 2.0L does this sometimes. It seems to lack bottom end power and is really fluffy to get it moving below 2K, then sets off like it should.
13. gave £30 for it from someone on here and it seems to idle better, but still does the lacking power bit sometimes. Try taking the ISV off and cleaning through with brake cleaner to see if that helps.
14. I too thought it maybe the isv but replaced it last week and its the same.
15. My 92 2.0 16v is the same, however mine seems to be worse when cold. It also sometimes lacks power below 2k rpm when pulling away when its playing up. Most of the time its faultless. I read some bumph on an ebay listing that suggests the stalling is related to the MAF, but I don't know but would like to.
16. fitted one of these last night, fantastic recommendation, the radio picks up stations I didn't know existed
17. Pm me your price, ta
18. My idle control valve is a bit hit/miss, well I assume it's that as pulling up to junctions it sometimes almost stalls, sometimes isles about 900 rpm and now after a good old fashioned cleaning, has been idling at 1500 rpm. Anyway my question relates to what parts fit my 1992 2.0 16v that is missing the part number sticker. EBay seems to list loads for the 1.8 and vr6 but only a few (higher priced) for the 2.0. Are the parts interchangeable?
19. Always worked on the switch and has an aftermarket headunit fitted, but no connection to the blue/white.
20. Having a clear out and before I put stuff on ebay, does anyone want:- £30 Bonnet bra (38DD, only kidding) £15 Early 16v grill with painted red badge (possibly missing top side clips - dunno if it should have any) £20 Debadged grill in good condition. Also see my advert for G60 banded steels offers soon or ebay gets em.
21. Has anyone produced a guide for fixing the spoiler electrics? What I hope for is some sort of wiring diagram, but detailing where in the car things are......for example, the blue/white wire goes from fuse no 15, traces down drivers side to boot connector. I have a manual with the actual diagram, but was hoping for sommat that would help me diagnose my problem (works on switch, but not speed activated). If I knew where the wires came from/to, I could cut each end and rough wire an alternative wire to find out if this wire is at fault. I know where the control unit is, but would love to know were it gets it's signal from to move the spoiler. Sorry for the rambling of a mad man, but I want a working spoiler and any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
22. honestly you wouldn't offend....just wouldn't be driving round on nice banded rims, lol. pm me.
