  1. Well I'm happy to give it a coat of paint. Does removing it from the gearbox involve lots of mess...
  2. I also managed to get the heat shield from heritage. I've given it a couple of coats of paint before I fit it, so hopefully it won't fall apart like the previous one. I'm still undecided on the driveshafts, but may very well go for the J and R ones as they're a great price,2 yr warranty and it says oe spec.
  3. That's what I was originally sold as fitting mine. No way does it fit the VR model. They'd definitely why vw list the other part number
  4. What was your part number?? I managed to get the last 3A0615312 from veedubmachine and that fits mine perfectly. But I still need the other side. Be good if someone could template them
  5. Unfortunately both obsolete. I've phoned lots of companies and still no joy. I'm going to try looking at mk4 golf/ Bora ones as they seem similar. I'll let you know. if I find someone who stocks them locally I can offer up old against New and hopefully get a near match. But if you manage to find some, please let me know. As this is going to affect all VR owners...Good luck
  6. I've also been looking. Turns out the vw part number for these are 3A0 615 312 3A0 615 311
  7. The Link above from dox looks good.
  8. Which ones are you thinking of using. And don't go getting the last ones[emoji23]
  9. I have most of the front underside of my car off at the moment. All being nicely replaced or repainted. My concern is my outer cv joints. I wasn't going to replace them (probably because I've never changed one b4, and to cut down on cost) How can I tell if they are worn? I can hold the drive shaft, pull on the joint and it makes a slight 'click' noise. Is this normal/acceptable. I suppose I should just bite the bullet and change them as The car has done 122k.... Just wondering what people's thoughts are? I am replacing the suspension, brakes, bearings, wishbones etc......
  10. Is this the one you mean? I don't have any spare, but the numbers on it are 33590-01622 KD56902 Don't know if that helps, but these are on my 95 VR. Although these could be wrong but I took them off of the original rubber brake houses
  11. Be nice if we could find someone to pattern part these. Perhaps vw heritage is the way.. Something needs to be done
  12. When you say dubmachine, is that veedubmachine? As I can't find anything else on Google. If it is them, that's where I got this one from. Seems we may have got the last ones. You a complete pair luckily
  13. Thanks for looking. Atleast I know what I'm definitely looking for. I've tried the other splash shields and it just doesn't quite line up. I'm sure with some slight drilling and cutting I could make it happen, but I would like to find the 311 part, until I give up the search
  14. I've looked at the link posted above. It states for item 10 on an ABV engine car that 3A0615312 and 3A0615311 are the items. Or am I reading it wrong! . Where did you get your fronts from?
  15. Difficult to see, but this is the obsolete one, and it's holes fit perfectly, even for the raised lug
  16. This it's what I took off!! Now I'm confused
  17. I'm after the other side, 3A0 615 311 to go with this one. Apparently both of these are obsolete now
  18. The above fits. 3A0 615 312
  19. I'm trying to find the fronts. I'll try and put the picture up again
  20. None of mine have any stamping on them. Just stickers. I took them off and gave them an extra coating of black smoothrite paint b4 fitting. I could check my receipt for it's part of the number. As for the fronts...do you have a part number on them?
  21. I was very disappointed with vw in what they first supplied. even more so gutted that the correct parts are obsolete. i've tried contacting vw suppliers in the states but no one replies. hence if we cant find others, perhaps someone templating this one would be good
  22. They just don't line up with the bolt holes of the hub... And some of the pressings are different
  23. /01/f09ab5cf8fe036d204597b6e204b5d77.jpg[/img] I've got most of the drive train off and am sourcing parts. The picture is of a brake shield 3A0 615 312. Apparently now obsolete from vw. I got this as a last one from veedubmachine. I'm trying to source the left hand side one 3A0 615 311. I've tried lots of places without any luck. Before I fit this one to my car, would it be worth a template being made... I don't want to be selfish and fit the last one and we lose this opportunity. On the other hand, if someone knows of a supplier already, could you pass the info on to me. I was originally supplied two w357 615 311a shields by vw but they don't fit my VR, so if you need some and they're for your car, give me a shout[emoji3]
