My switch is exactly the same part number with exactly the same problem. I soldered a new lamp in a month ago, bingo it works. Never goes off now tho!! Its a cheap fix, just awkward to get a good solder joint without upsetting anything other joint on the circuit board

handbrake cable (axle spring clip picture.) please
Cressa replied to Cressa's topic in Newbies Hangout
After a long read ive found the picture. Unfortunately as i try to zoom in i can not make out how the clip fits.... Can anyone else help please -
Could anyone post me a picture up of how the handbrake cable axle clip is positioned please. The ones near the Bush. I've been looking all over but can't seem to find one. I was feeling all happy after finally getting my refurbished axle back on. Complete with new suspension, brakes, the lot. But this is baffling me. Any help greatly appreciated. NOT the ones that clip onto the underside of the axle that wrap around the actual handbrake cable

So i bought M905 MHM which has the Diavia aftermarket dealerfit Aircon. Today i got a great guy (car cool air conditioning services, South yorkshire)to come out and have a look at it. After a quick check over, pressure test and regas-IT ONLY WORKS... Miracle. Here's hoping it lasts. A query i do have is the front grille. It only lets air flow in through the top slat. The other two are a complete plastic item. I would have expected an aircon car needing lots of airflow. The part no. is 535 853 653. I've noticed other grilles for sale that have gaps between every slat. Will this cause me any overheating problems? And just when i think everything is going well, a look at the heater flap box reveal a broken cog at the bottom........aghhhh so its time to find a replacement(if anyone has one) and get the dash out. Again :mad2:

I know it's been a long time, but are your alloys still for sale? Thanks, Richard

Thank you to everyone for the helpful words and advice. With any luck the rear axle, suspension and brakes should be on this week. Then it will be time to look at the front end.... The ABS light never came on, so that has been repaired and now does'nt go out:oops: but im working on it. Ive had the whole interior out for a good clean and shampoo so that was a good point. The rear arches have been wax oiled although a slight hole needs a patch welding on it. I continue on my quest to restore her to some former glory and an MOT. Adrian, great of you to get in touch. You will be welcome to have a drive of her one day. Did the aircon work when you had the car? and did you put the OZ Polaris alloys on her? The spanners are busy and i look forward to meeting everyone one day. The bodywork will be the last job. Back in the garage for me now :smug:

After finding and reading more write ups, one suggestion was that the lamp inside was blown. I've soldered a replacement and it only works!!! All be it is on all the time. Time to find the fault

Good luck. my passenger side slider was broken from its cable. After swapping the whole unit I tried repairing it/ gluing it with a product called 'Q bond' from decent motor factors. It was recommended to me by a mobile car trim repair man. It's good stuff and when I repaired my breakage, I could build up some strength around it. There was masses of information on here about how to remove it all. Just be careful when removing the rear roof trim at the boot as it snaps easily. And treat all the roof lining to a good clean whilst out. Easy. Goodluck

my abs light does not come on at all. I've removed the switch and found I have voltage at the 5pin connector, but the red 2 pin connector does not go into anything. I have a strange feeling something has been removed internally so it doesn't light up!! Does that sound reasonable? I have the switch apart and there is a circuit board with 5 pins and an led. What should that red 2 wire plug connect into?? Anything. And after reading lots, I need to borrow a vagcom reader. As a newbie I'm trying to make this non runner right. Any help greatly appreciated

if you aren't sorted by tomorrow, when I get back home I'll take a picture from inside if that helps. mine is still standard badged.

Typical sunroof problem, but i need a part/ advice please
Cressa replied to Cressa's topic in Newbies Hangout
The mk3 has been a straight swop. All the fixing holes and locating pegs line up perfectly. Even the motor plugs straight in. what I am using is my original metal roof which is what I want. No moonroof conversion, as you rightly say the golf panel is not quite the same profile. Tomorrow's job is to faff around with the inner sunroof to see if I can get it to lift when the sunroof tilts... I'll let you know how it goes .. -
I've enjoyed removing the interior trim and giving it all a good clean and polish. The sunroof is is on my dining room table in pieces. My left hand slider part where the cable joins onto it is broken. 722 686 877 is the part number. Does anyone have one of these, or know of where i can get this from. VW say its obsolete. I've been out and bought a mk3 golf unit but the slider does not have the tilting spring part for a corrado sunroof liner. I'm wanting to restore her to some sort of standard former glory over time so would prefer to keep her the same. I have also just tried to upload a picture of the broken part. Hopefully it has worked. Any ideas gratefully appreciated. Oh and the mk3 golf wind deflector part is different as it has two cut out slots in it. If someone has managed to make everything work correctly from a mk3 golf, i welcome the solution. Thanks everyone

M905 MHM (anyone know her) Has finally arrived on a trailer from south of Cheshire. She is a Dragon green VR6 with many issues, but hopefully with patience, advice and some money she can be restored to her former glory. On the plus side she has only 120k on the clock, all MOTs, lots of service History, a working rear spoiler and air con fitted I've spent the day giving her a good clean, getting the bonnet to unlock, windows to run smoother and standing back admiring. She is running on a set of old skool OZ Saturn alloys for now. She is slammed low on some crazy coilover kit and we struggled to get her on the trailer, so that has to go. Issues are many as i get to know her. The sunroof isnt working so i will try and look at that tomorrow. It has shiny pieces in the sliders so i will be learning as i look into cable problems. All the brakes need a change including pipes so i may upgrade to rear mk4 golf calipers. The engine sounds good to me with a leak from somewhere!! Thats for later. Yes i need the fog lights replacing and to investigate the aircon. Her body needs a good fettle but for now that can wait to. I'm busy hunting for a parcel shelf strap 535863447a to replace a broken one. The plan is to slowly start chipping away at it. I have a lot to learn as it isnt a Golf Gti. I promise to put some pictures on as soon as i work out how to..... and as i said before, if anyone fancies giving it a critical eye your always welcome if your passing j31 M1 Aston. Thanks in anticipation of your patience

I have this evening put a deposit down on a m plate motor. It needs some work and that is what I am looking forward to. It's coming from South of Manchester on a trailer to me in the next week or so. I live at aston j31 of the m1. If anyone would like to give it a critical look over when I have it, you would be welcome. I'll put the kettle on. It's slammed too low, broken fog lights and sunroof, plus many other issues. Here's to the future 😳

I have been very tempted by the VR for practicality, just a blue G60 scratches an old itch. But not if running costs are high. Thanks for your statements, I do appreciate them

My biggest question has to be, g60 or vr6. I've only really had gti's. The 2.0 16v engine was reliable for me years ago but i need a corrado so purchasing a corrado i am looking forward to, but dont want an expensive to run model. This has probably been asked 1000times before, so apologies if it has. I would just like owners opinions. Thanks anyone
