  1. Need some advice please. Just put my G60 back together, and got it running, but there seems to be a problem with the tickover. It seems a bit lumpier and doesn't want to idle as well as before the head was done.Push the revs up to 2500 and it smoothes itself out and sounds good, but on idle it sounds like it's off timing(which has been checked twice and appears ok). I have ideas on a could be a couple of things that could be the cause; 1)faulty earth on the O2 sensor, 2)Knackered Dizzy cap, 3)The "brain" needs remapping  It has recently had the head off and it has been flowed and ported,3.5bar fpr, matched inlet and exhaust manifold(TSR 4branch),new bosch plugs, a brand new VAG lambda probe and a 260deg cam. The exhaust gas smells like its overfuelling, but without taking it to a garage to be checked on a diagnostic machine(which would mean having to get it T&T'd) I'm at a loss. Any help or advice would be appreciated.
  2. When, after 6 months of having the engine in bits and finally getting it back together,I flick over the ignition and the thing rumbled into life FIRST TIME! The timing still isn't quite right(thinking that the timing belt is out by maybe one tooth) but, my god,it feels good to know that it will run!! :-P 8) :D Also getting that warm glow from knowing that most of the work was done by me! Just the FMIC to get fitted and the toothed belt system to come from Pitstop and I'll be a happy bunny.
  3. Yeah, been thinking about cancelling the order foe a few weeks now,as I've been toying with the idea of keeping it looking stock and having all the mods kept to under the bonnet. Really was just looking at having one for airflow to the FMIC,when I get it fitted. But as it wont be going in directly behind the bumper,an RS bumper wouldn't matter much now. :?
  4. I ordered an RS4 front bumper from Detriech through Venom in February this year, and I'm still waiting for it to arrive. I've phoned Venom on several occasions to be told that they're still waiting for Deitreich to deliver-something to do with having to wait for several orders before production commences. How many do they need for F***k's sake! It's been 4months now.Surely they'll have enough orders by now to make the things? Oh, and if the lads from Pitstop read this,How are my Intercooler pipes coming along? :-P
  5. Having looked at the diagrams someone posted here for setting up the timing on a G60,does the bottom pulley for the supercharger belt and the pulley in front, both bolted to the crankshaft, have to be removed first, to line up the timing marks? Or is there a way of setting the timing without removing these pullies(sp)? If the S/c pulley has to be romoved, how is this done,as there seems to be no way to loosen the belt? All answers gratefully appreciated.
  6. Sorry mate, saw your name in PVW and for some reason read it as Jamie. Recognised the car from the pics and thought "bl**dy hell! that's belongs to a bloke on the forum!!".Love the colour, although I thought to start off with it was the same as mine.Until I saw those pics of it.
  7. Well done for getting a feature in PVW! :notworthy: :thumbleft:
  8. Right, that's it. Can wait no longer we're off to the pub, argument still going.......
  9. Hellfire, 15 users online and nobody wants take up this challenge? Please help me prove I'm right and that some whingebag that drives an Astravan doesn't know more about VW's than I do. Pride is at stake here! )PS,Soz if I'm sounding pushy but alcohol is involved here  (
  10. Aahh nuts. I've just lost £20. and the next three rounds,I was that confident:( And my front teeth!  We really should get out more! Cheers mate! Wait a minute...I see a get out clause. The hangers differ between the two? This is just the rear box we're on about? As you can see there's a lot riding on this!!
  11. C'mon guys, the beers being set down and the boxing gloves are beung pulled on!! :-P :-P :-P I NEED YOUR HELLLLLLLLLP!!!!!!!!!
  12. Need a reply asap please! Okay, pub quiz time. are the rear silencers on an 1800 16v the same as the1800 G60 (early type)? I say no,because the 16v revs higher,my mate says yes because from the manifold back they are basically the same(unless theres a cat involved!) Answer needed please before a punch-up ensues!!
  13. Have a check on Ebay mate.Theres some on there.....
  14. Well thats it.Project Corrado has come to a grinding halt. After spending £££ on the car it has come down to waiting for a "mate who's an ex mechanic" to come and help set the timing. Was hoping to at least get the thing running and out of the workshop in time to enjoy the summer months, and see the difference the head/exhaust/suspension work has made, and ater that it would go back in for the fmic to be fitted and a toothed pulley system to go in too. Bollocks.

    G60 power

I had my charger stage 4'd and a new chip and pulley at the same time. All the work was carried out by Star performance in Glenrothes, although the charger was sent to Jabbasport. After it was RR'd,it was putting out around 183bhp. I've since had the head rebuilt and a new cam put in along with a TSR 4-1 manifold,3.5 bar fpr and I am currently installing a Golf G60 Intercooler(Which the guys at Pitstop are sourcing the pipework for.Big thanks) . I have no idea what the bhp will be as it hasn't been re-timed and started yet(also there's no-one with a rolling road within 300 miles of me :( )but when I do get it done I'm expecting 200-220bhp.I hope!
  16. Buggerit! I knew it sounded familiar! I'll have to ask next time I see her.
  17. Been leafing thru Ian Kuah's book and just out of interest, does anyone on here own the Corrado's with these reg's that are featured in it? G330 KNV,Yellow 16v, F235BVV,Red-poss 16v, F241 BVV,Same Possibly(or more probably)press cars. or the Zender kitted burgundy 16v G80 TYO that had colour coded Ronal Turbo like alloys? If not,any ideas where they might be?
  18. been trying everywhere locally to find a 180deg pipe with the correct bore to adapt the Corrado to fit my rallye intercooler, with absolutely zilch results.Even went to the local VAG dealer to get a price for the original rallye pipe-£245+vat  just for the 180deg bit! They then gave me Jabbasports number  ....which I thought was pretty decent of them. Anyone have any other ideas where I can get the necessary pipework to do this? Looks like the post office are gonna do wel out of me again this month. :)
  19. Hey,I think I saw that car at a show in the convention centre in Vancouver last summer! I'll try and dig out a pic.....
  20. Thick as two very short bits of 2x4 I am.... Got an rsr outlet and Rallye intercooler today that I bought from LowG(who gave a first class service, :thumbleft: thanks m8!) but I'm not sure how to fit the rsr. I know it's fitted to the charger somehow, but I can't figure out where. Is it a case of removing the black plastic box-and junking it- from the rear of the charger and fitting it there,or is it fitted elsewhere? Pics would be appreciated.
  21. I have one,but my camera battery died. Will get pics asap. Just a thought but theres pics of round 90mm Jetex ones in thier ad in PVW,if thats any help.... :?

    Bosch W6DPO plugs

Roughly speaking, how much would you expect to pay for these plugs from the dealer? I've have the option of buying a set, allegedly brand new,for around £27. Is this a good price to pay? Been to ECP and they have quoted £56 for four inc VAT!!
  23. Help please! Been speaking to a bloke who has done this to his Mk2 Golf and said it had sharpened up the handling no end. Anyone know of a company that does them for a 91 Corrado G60? Or will the ones for a MK2 Golf fit the C? Looking to possibly fit upper strut braces too,but even these are difficult to get hold of for a Corrado.
  24. Hehe,I took the opportunity of that offer too, last november, when I was in 'Sneckie.....Didn't show my cleavage though.
