John/Bilal, I dont think I will be able to move the rad on mine as I have fitted a Golf G60 intercooler so I have already moved it back. Do other people who have removed the boost return system get a lot of squeaks and whistles too? At the moment I am seriously considering refitting it all at the weekend.

Thanks John, I did get the blanking plate from Darren. I know have another question, By removing the boost return pipes and blanking off the right hand of the charger, am I getting enough air into it? I ask as the air coming out of the wastegate does not seem that hot and there is a lot of it! Any ideas guys? Cheers (again) Rob.

I am thinking of changing my 68mm pulley to a smaller one and getting my SNS chip remapped by Bilal to suit. Does anyone know the best place to get one or has anyone got one for sale? Also, when my 68mm was fitted spacers were used to take up the slack in the belt. Is it better to fit a shorter belt this time or are spacers acceptable? If a shorter belt is better, where do you get them? Cheers, Rob.

There should be a little black plug facing the bulkhead that can be pulled off and the pipe fits straight on.

I've fitted one from a Golf G60. It's a good fit and looks nice and standard in the engine bay. They are very hard to find though, I had to get mine from Germany! To get the most from them I think you have to open up the bumper and fit some mesh where the number plate is.

Bilal, Will it still fit in my car bearing in mind I have fitted the intercooler set-up from a Golf G60? Have you got any pics/prices etc?

Thanks for the help and advice everyone has given me so far. I removed everything at the weekend and am very pleased with it. I used K&N crankcase breathers in the cam cover and on the ISV pipe and I re used the rubber elbow with the metal gauze modded to fit into the elbow to keep dirt out but that blew off last night! I seem to be getting a bit of oil coming out of the K&N on the cam cover (but it may be just the K&N oil as I think I used too much) Has anyone rigged a oil catch tank up? A local motorsport shop has got some for £30 and I'm thinking it could be modded to work but I havn't a clue where to mount it. Cheers guys, Rob. 92 G60.

I used to have an S reg UK spec MR2 and they produce 167 bhp (if I remember correctly) Earlier models made slightly more but later models have a better suspension set-up to compensate. I don't think it would be faster than a VR as it is quite a heavy car with less power but the handling was fantastic, especially for a standard set-up, so what it loses on the straights it might make some up on the twisty bits. Just my thoughts, Rob.

Right, I'm nearly ready to remove everything as soon as my blanking plate arrives. I would go for twin inlets but as I've fitted a Golf G60 intercooler I don't have the space. I just wondered if anyone had any pics of their setups? I'm looking to see what you have done with your ISV pipe and the boost return pipe which comes from the throttle body mainly. I don't seem to have a leaky ISV so I shouldn't need a Giro valve so I was thinking of fitting a small crankcase breather to the ISV pipe. Not too sure what to do with the boost return pipe though. Thank in advance, Rob

If the charger hasn't been serviced yet that should be your first mod. Also change the cambelt if you don't know when it was last done. Hope this helps, Rob.

REMOVING BOOST RETURN PIPES AND FITTING CONE FILTER IN WING?
brookescourt replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
Thanks again for the advice guys, Is there any way of fitting a dual intake without lowering the rad beceause I have just fitted a big intercooler and had to have brackets made up for that as I had to move it back a couple of cm and dont know if I can be bothered moving everything again. I also have a few more questions, Does a cone filter in the wing get much more air than one in the standard airbox position? Is it really much more efficient than the standard airbox? Is it safe to vent the boost return pipe to air? Thanks (again) Rob -
After fitting a Golf G60 intercooler I now want to fit an induction kit in the inner wing (away from engine heat) and remove all the boost return system. Can anyone advise on the best way to go about this and how to go about blocking everything up. Are there any custom made parts availlable to do this like blanking plates, pipes, hoses etc? How do you go about fitting a second air filter to the charger or is it best just to blank it off? Thanks in advance, Rob.

No, but I know where you can get hold of a mint RSR outlet kit for £65 mailto:[email protected]

They (BBM) are talking about the Rallye outlet they also sell

I found a good quality gearbox oil helped too. I use Castrol TAF-X which is designed for VW gearboxes and is excellent and highly reccomended, if you can find it.

G60 (removing carbon canister and pipework) advice needed
brookescourt replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
Thanks Ant. I did it the other day and relocated my boost gauge to make it look neater. Have not noticed any problems with whistling noises so far, I left about 3 inches of hose and plugged the end with a large bolt. -
Too Hot, When mine packed up it wouldnt work automatically or by the switch. First of all it started to work very slowly and in the end smoke started coming from the motor, I knew then it was time to get a new one. It sounds like yous is not the motor though if it still works by switch. Hope this helps, Rob.

Thinking of fitting a Micron carbon can to my G60
brookescourt replied to brookescourt's topic in Engine Bay
Ant, Thats just what I was thinking, just thought I'd ask. -
Has anyone done this or seen it done, or is it a stupid idea? Just been offered a mint carbon can from my mates Bandit so its got me wondering. The only thing is, my car looks fairly standard (just looks) which is the way I like it. Any thoughts guys?

I fitted my SNS chip and 3.5 bar FPR today. I adjusted the CO pot to 500 ohms as instructed but have left the timing standard for now. Has anyone advanced their timing since fitting the chip and if so, did it give much more power? The car feels a lot smoother already and is much nicer to drive. I have also lost my whistle at gearchange, mabye this was the ISV dumping excess boost as the SNS chip does away with that. Also I have lost the harsh rev limit, and that can only be a good thing. I can't wait untill I get my big intercooler fitted in a fortnight, it should really fly then. Cheers guys. Rob.

Does anyone know whereabouts the fuel filter is on a 92 G60 and the part number? The car is in for a service soon and I always supply my own parts so I thought I would get one for the garage to fit as I dont know if it has ever been changed. Cheers, Rob. 92 G60.

Ant, Do the vacuum advance retard plugs come in various sizes then?
