Finally saw another Corrado going the same way as me whlist i was in my corrado - it was on the M11 from junction 7 southbound on to the A406 - around 7ish on Friday - driver had a very enthusiastic kid along side him who was waving all the time - we drove down the M11 all the way together - it was a thing of beauty 8) plenty of driving alongside each other for the hell of it - when we had to go our separate ways it was emotional   Car was a black G60 - numberplate J150 FG* - as it was in the Essex area my first thought was that it may have been the stolen one - Mark's one - so to start with i was trying to chase the car and at the same time check the numberplate against mark's which i had noted down on my phone! So... any tackers? It was definately an enthusiast - must be a corrado forum member!

I will keep an eye out for it too mark - i work in Harlow and drive around the area quite a bit - hope you manage to get all the mopping up afterwards sorted, its a terrible time - best of luck with it all.

Dave, all i said was this person was the leading suspect - you're right i do not have proof that owner took it - its just a working hypothesis. -
Aerial stolen - UPDATED with pics of suspect Corrado
CorradoWannabe replied to CorradoWannabe's topic in General Car Chat
oops - there is proof that when at work.. and even whilst browsing the corrado forum my main focus is always the customer  -
Parked my car in a multi storey car park yesterday evening - managed to find an awesome looking corrado to park next to - park next to it took some pics on my camera phone then moved the car so it was still close to the other corrado - but not in the disabled bay (as that was where this guy parked - shoulda realised then he'd be a dogey character). Get back to my car some hours later - the other Corrado is gone - but so is my aerial!!!! It was the end of the aerial that just screwes out - after looking again at the photos of the other car i took before his was missing!! Ok the car numberplate was: "DI 4MIT" - it was black.. debadged.. later style with the clear rear light clusters and customer rear bumper with the numberplate in it.. when i manage to get a data cable for my phone i'll post up the photos! I feel quite petty posting this after mark just had his whole car stolen - so forgive me mark - but im still quite annoyed by this - id expect better from a fellow Corrado owner  This was in Wimbledon area by the way - south west london.

With part prices like that no wonder these cars get written off so easily and also no wonder breakers love em :(

Corrado spotting - April 2005

It may well have been you i saw on the M11 Graham E... blue can look black esp when passing someone 70mph in one direction whilst they are going 70 in the other... lets pretend it was you.. i spotted someone on the forum .. woo hoo.. 8) -
Jim i was gonna recommend a Golf mk3 VR6 too - its one crazy machine - very powerful engine in a fairly light chasis - great engine noise too! I would definately have a look at the Seat Cupra also - and how about a Honda Civic type R ( outside your price range i guess ). It depends a lot on what cars you've had before and what you've liked and what you are lookin for in your future drive.

MoT Failed for Headlights Being Too Dim!
CorradoWannabe replied to CorradoWannabe's topic in General Car Chat
Got the car through the MoT! Thanks to Gavin for his value snippets of advice and others on here too. Having gotten used to a Mercedes A160 my 16 Valve Corrado has never felt so good to drive! 8) Celebrated by buying a new back numberplate - still got Gavin's loom to go too 8) Also took out a dent from one of the wings - my dad drilled a small hole in the wing - screwed in a self tapping screw.. then pulled the screw out with a pair of pliers!! The result was not too bad at all - filled up the whole and need to tidy the area up etc but no big crator in the wing now! -

Friday evening i saw a black Corrado heading north up the M11 between junction 6 and 7 at about 5pm - i was going northbound in my mum's A-class! Anyone on here? Also Saturday afternoon i saw a Green one with gold wheels in New Malden near Shanon's Corner - any takers? -
Anyone else driven the Mercedes A-Class for any length of time? I have to say i am impressed with its handling, i dont feel too stable and steady in such a high seating position [especially coming from driving a corrado where ur low to the ground] - but round corners and and winding country roads i gotta say its done better that i felt it would. I am driving the A160 - so about 100bhp, still missing that extra power and fun of driving the Corrado, but i cannot complain at all - last time i the car was in the garage for a while i was going round in a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2  Cant wait to get back in my C tho 8)

MoT Failed for Headlights Being Too Dim!

I agree with you Gavin - i think my dad's approach is get the bare minimum working to get through the MoT - then once that passes try working out exactly what is happening -
MoT Failed for Headlights Being Too Dim!
CorradoWannabe replied to CorradoWannabe's topic in General Car Chat
Update to this - my dad's been working away on the car this week and has said that just replacing the bulbs with a new pair of standard ones helped - then he disconnected the full beam inner lights and that helped more. Strangely what id see before was that when the full beams were on.. and the inner lights [the two nearest the grill] came on BUT the outer main lights would get dimmer. We are hoping that as its setup now will get it through the MoT. With the inner lights disconnected the full beam warning light on the dash now lights up (it wasnt doing so before). I think the car is going in for its retest this morning.... fingers crossed... This weekend i hope to get the loom in, put a new 'Corrado Forum' numberplate surround on, new numberplates -

I saw a dark coloured one around West London Monday evening - J31 sbw i think the reg was - anyone on here? -
My bulb does come on, but very very dimly, the MoT guy said he couldnt see anything - from what you've said replacing the bulb will not fix this? Is it expected to be very dim?
-
I'd be interested in one in Barking too 8)
-
Updated the original post so it makes more sense - its the blue light in the dashboard that im trying to sort out.
-
Thanks for that gavin - you are following me around this forum it seems :) i wonder if these issues are related....great news about the loom - thanks
-
When the full beams are on the blue light does not light up - well it does very very dimley - i want to try replacing the bulb - does the dash need to be removed for this? Is it easy to replace the dash warning light or a big job? Any advice on doing this appreciated.

MoT Failed for Headlights Being Too Dim!
CorradoWannabe replied to CorradoWannabe's topic in General Car Chat
The pedals look like they are supposed to stay with just the metal and that they were changed to match the metal silver gear stick... to keep mr MoT happy though i've put a bit of rubber on. The loose headlight is due to the brackets holding it on to the body both being broken - hopefully should be able to fix that one too - thanks for the advice about the bulbs guys - i'll get in touch with gavin and get those bulbs too. -
The first MoT for my Corrado and it did quite well - it failed on a few minor niggles such as rubber missing on brake pedal, one of the headlights being a bit loose, the one that made me smile a bit was a comment that the lights were too dim - i was going to say its a Corrado thing - but the guy said they were so dim they did not show up at all on his meter to check the aim of the light... he said it could be the reflectors, i think its just as i have not invested in an uprated headloom yet.. any thoughts? The serious ones were leaking rear shock absorber which hopefully i can get fixed and then be able to keep one more corrado on the road for at least another year 8)

On Saturday i saw a Reg Corrado - not sure what make - number plate was something like G *** RAA - it looked absolutely mint - this was just before Chiswick Roundabout underneat the A4 whilst in heavy traffic - as you approached i was looking in my A to Z and only caught a glimse as you drove past - no one let me change lane to follow you so that was the only sighter i got :(
-
Thanks Henny - so if i get a mk3 callipers they should work fine without changes to anything? And for mk4 callipers the hoses will need changing - but everything else is ok? Just wanna double check before i spend the money 8)
