  1. Thanks Cazza,

Think ill order a Beru one, £145 delivered sooo much better than than the £344 that VW want

I bought one in 2010 from the dealer and it was £185+VAT. Holy hell they've gone up a lot!

  2. Not a biker myself but the guys that do that deserve mucho respect. Looking forward to the first race on Friday who else is?

Would love to get there one day to experience

Agreed. Having driven round that course in a car, it makes you realise the bikers must have steel balls to drive round at the speeds they do. Sadly, a Japanese rider died on one of the practice days. It's a very dangerous course!

  3. I doubt he's bothered about the door Kev with the amount of welding that cars had... isn't the rear beam from an Allegro?

Yup and Rob was clearly confused by the 'Gaz' coilovers. What he meant was 'Gas', as in the All Aggro's hyrdogas setup.Nice bit of kit :D

  4. You'll need a new door for the bubbling and did Rob tell you about the rock he drove over, which bashed the floor in pretty hard? Might want to get it on a 4 wheel jig.

    Only messing :-)

  5. Bilstein PSS9 are rock hard. H&R used to do a 'comfort' spec kit, which was the same Bilstein monotubes but with more sensible spring rates and damper valving. I had those and they were excellent apart from spring perches siezing on, but that's common on most coilovers. Not sure if they're still available now.

KW V3s are much nicer for ride comfort than V2 and PSS9.

  6. Well traveling to close to someone is a bit silly and the sort of thing that causes accidents however the same can also be said for deliberately swerving into the path of an overtaking vehicle to prevent them overtaking, wouldn't you say? I would think he would have every reason to be ****ed at you, and on balance what you did was probably far more dangerous.

Agreed but does that justify this bloke potentially turning a simple motoring misdemeanor into violence? I think not. The OP unfortunately did that to someone who has anger issues and was clearly spoiling for a fight. Best thing to do, as hard as it is, is to ignore them, let them get on with it and let Karma take it's natural course.

  7. Quelle surprise it was a no neck shaven headed thug. I bet he had a right angry wasp chewing face on him when was up your chuff? Plenty of his sort bullying motorists around my area. I hate blokes like that but eventually they pick on the wrong person and get a good clobbering. I once saw a bloke like this shouting at a truck driver in a traffic jam, trying to climb up into the cab. The truck driver must have kicked the door open into his face or something as he fell back down onto the floor pretty sharpish and then scampered off. Oh how I lol'd :D

As said already, try and keep your head down for a bit. He's probably destroyed his memory with drug abuse ;)

  8. Standard VR6s stall, let alone SC'd ones :D

Stealth sorted that problem out years ago anyway :D

If you liked the V9 charged car, you'll love yours with a V1 even more as it's much better suited to the VR6 than the 9.

I'll put a tenner on you wanting a turbo 6 months later though :D

  9. This is exactly what we need, but they're just for MK4s at the moment :( http://www.usrallyteam.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=76_182_222&products_id=1856

Most tuners don't give a rats about cars younger than MK4 anymore but USRT are the boys for handling.

I wonder if MK4 wishbones will fit Corrados? The tie rod end will probably work tho. I'm sure if there's enough demand they might do them for Corrados / MK3 as well.

  10. Oh really, eek! This will rub plenty of salt into you wound, but even my standard & tubby R32 has the edge on E46 330 petrols :D

Seriously though, if it was a late E46 330d & chipped (was there any black smoke?) they can summon a mighty ~250hp & ~400lbft from the depths of it's oily bowels to despatch pesky VWs with. You know and I know that centrifugal S/Cs don't do much below 4000rpm, so a beefed up 330D could easily catch you off guard in the wrong gear!

Bobbie's install was a little different to yours those though chap. Forged bottom end, Schimmel intercooler, schimmel short runner, schimmel BVH & Cams (IIRC) etc. You don't get any boost losses at all through those and the chargecooler is superb. The head and cams work well too.

The only thing I don't like about the Rotrex is stepped power delivery. It seems to jump from some boost, to all boost over a narrow powerband. I also didn't like having to run the MAF and filter 5" off the floor with S/Cs either, but each FI method has it's pros and cons as we know!

Your story is pretty much why I went turbo: to fatten up the torque curve and change the power / torque on demand. I spent 2 days with Vince mapping my Vortech stage 3 (12 psi - 321hp) back in 2006, only to get wasted by a rusty Nissan 200 SX!

I didn't realise you'd be cogitating for that long otherwise I'd have tried to sell you on turbos much sooner

  11. I average 350 to a tank from my MK4. Did the chains on it last week and as a few other MK4 owners have discovered, mine was timed a tooth out at the factory, which may or may not affect the economy but correcting the timing certainly made it smoother and punchier!
