Black plug out and no fans. Black plug in and they run on full. So I need a "black" switch. Any ideas on part numbers and where to source? Will start searching but if anyone has the info to hand?? Many thanks again

Thanks again will try this today. They run at full bung so I'm thinking black sensor. Will wait and see (but start looking for a replacement too) thanks

Sean where are all the sensors? 3 plugs just in front of thermostat housing? Cheers again

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread but was wondering if someone could help diagnose the fact my vr fans are staying on. They come on after a couple of mins driving (not yet up to temp) and then stay on until I turn the ignition off. I have unplugged the connector below and it shuts the fans down. Plug it in they come back on. Does this mean the black box (fan control module) is goosed? Any ideas?

Thursday night new front top mounts fitted (much thicker than the ones that came out- so well needed). Now a clean and ready for mot! Fingers crossed!

Hi, I could post yes, The alternator was in good working order when removed a few years ago and has been sat on a shelf in my garage since. Its going to be £20 posted.

The gearbox came from a golf I bought to break, big ends were shot but the car did still drive and there was no problem with gearbox that I was aware of. Car had about 100k on IIRC.

Damn just arranged for alternator to be sent for double that (a reply to my wanted ad). I should have heald off never mind.

Headlight wiring (repaired and replaced). Drivers side dash rebuilt. Windscreen trim refitted, plenty still to do!

Sorry if this shouldn't be in engine bay. I'm wondering if there should be a full scuttle cover on my vr6. I have a feeling there should be. I'm talking about below the lower plastic windscreen trim. The cover I am thinking of would cover wiper motor, foliage cover etc.

I'd i should have one does anyone Know if they ever changed or will one from any c do?

Folks , I rescued my old vr from certain death a few weeks ago by buying it back. I've replaced bearings, brakes, belt etc so far along with heater matrix. While ensuring the damp interior was sorted I noticed some wet padding up by the windscreen on the passenger side so I think the gasket for the fan/heater intake was gubbed. I did make a poor attempt at repairing this the last time I owned it (9 years ago!). I've now removed the box under the scuttle and cleaned out a whole load of leaves etc. Is it possible the gaskets are still available? Is it a vw part still? Or any other fixes? Many thanks

I have the chance of panels from a G plate 16v car. Is there anything I couldn't use for my M plate vr? I know the bonnet is different but anything else?

Can I assume from the first post that the passenger door is long gone? Cheers
