  1. If you want the full list, you need to 'Go Advanced' then click [More] under the smilies on the right. The amount of data vB uses for each page is immense in comparison to phpBB. All the CSS, Javascript, Mod tools we have, etc etc etc... so yes, it is a lot more to churn through. And IE is slow at processing any site with Javascript, so you'll be the bottleneck on that one.
  2. Well, if you thought the site was quick before... whatcha think now? :) I'm getting instant pages at the moment... Thanks t700bes !
  3. Awww, with the title, I wanted to see pictures of dams! (You missed an 'n' off.. lol)
  4. Cheers, bb! Toby's been a star. Very impressed with his ideas and solutions to a neat backup setup. Nice to have a new member just offer up so much support just 'cos he felt like it! Also lucked out of the dedicated server too, as I received a higher spec CPU than the one I ordered (ordered a cheapo Celeron, but received a 2Ghz AMD Dual Core) so if we do have to revert to fallback, the site shouldn't suffer much in terms of speed. S'all good! Thanks Donators! Without you guys, I would struggle to afford the upkeep on here. I hope you like that I'm putting the donations to good use in making sure the site stays online! (And not filling me with cake or anything.. lol) ---------- Post added at 08:25 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:24 AM ---------- Unrelated, does anyone know any websites where you can buy cake and they support Paypal...? (Kidding ;))
  5. Ok, apologies if any of you spotted a little bit of down-time this afternoon, but that was for a good reason! I have purchased a second dedicated server, and have setup the second server to be a 'slave' to the first one - essentially duplicating the site LIVE as it's being used. This means that if the main server decides to explode in a fiery mess, one quick DNS change and the site is back up in a minute or two. This second server will also take snapshots of the site at various times, meaning that if attacked, or all wiped, we can 'roll back' to an earlier time where the data exists. I couldn't have fathomed where to start with this if it wasn't for the great assistance of t700bes who has been Linux coding away most of this afternoon getting it up and running. And of course, it wouldn't have even been possible without your donations. So thank you, and here's to 100% uptime! :)
  6. ??? Click on your username, then click 'View Forum Posts'. Sorry, thought everyone had worked that one out... ;)
  7. Have you tried changing to the Basic Editor here: http://the-corrado.net/profile.php?do=editoptions ? (2/3rds of the way down).
  8. Yes, clicking on an advert gets me a few pence. Every little helps! And to whoever is bored and is "+1"ing every post, that's not really the point... lol! :) +1 is Google's version of Facebook's "Like" (which, of course, is also supported on here). Any and all exposure to the social networks will hopefully link some of you as friends outside of the forum, but may also introduce others to the site: win win.
  9. Currently no plans, as Subscribers are clicking on them as well as Regular members - and the clicks all help with the cost of running the site. I don't feel they are as obtrusive as other forums who put them in between actual posts, etc. And sometimes they're quite useful as relevant to the thread you're reading... The adverts for Insurance certainly get a lot of click-throughs.
  10. Have added Google's "+1" favouriting / bookmarking button to each thread and post. Enabled 'Twitter' ID information and a 'Follow Me' link for your Profiles.
  11. Spell checker works perfectly in both Firefox and Chrome. Hint :)
  12. Just testing this now in Firefox 5... and working fine. Just hit Back and it went back a page. It must be a plugin or something on your PC.

  14. Chrome Portable fixes that problem (at work, at least) ;)
  15. Ah, right, I see. That's because Google still has the old site indexed, which I've taken offline (since the server issues the other week). I'll try and remember tonight and bring it back online. Should help with the Google indexing ;) ---------- Post added at 03:16 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:15 PM ---------- Or actually, I think I'll put some forwarding thing in place..
  16. Seems it's a known bug with vBulletin and Safari. iPhone/iPad, afraid I can't do much until they release a fix. Mac: install Google Chrome.
  17. Try changing the Editor. It's new in vB 4.1.4 and it's clear that Safari isn't compatible (Apple's fault!) Forum Actions -> General Settings -> Miscellaneous Options
  18. Should be fixed now. Sorry about that ;)
  19. Hold on, just investigating :) ---------- Post added at 11:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 PM ---------- VR6Pete try now?
  20. Cool, thanks. I use Tapatalk myself, anyway.. :)
  21. When are you talking about - just now, or previously? Part of the upgrade we completely reset the Mobile theme back to its defaults. Seems in the past upgrades it got a little corrupted.
  22. Hi all, I've just upgraded the forum to the latest version of vBulletin, which involved quite a large amount of changes to CSS files (which deal with layout of the site) and also a new editor for postings. I've tested these in Chrome and IE, and all seems well. But if you see anything weird going on, please let me know in here and post a screenshot if possible. Thanks!
  23. Meh, let you off, then... ;) (Excuses, excuses!)
  24. Took you long enough... lol :)
