  1. Is there a difference between the early and late interior door handle (the opener part)?

I offered up my late door cards to my early doors and the handle looks more rounded

  2. Thats how I started my re-fresh :) nearly 5 years later its going back together

Mine had the same rust at the bottom of the A pillars which I think was caused by a rust hole around the screen so could be worth checking yours

  3. There is a group on facebook dedicated to putting TFSI engines in mk1 and mk2 golfs, that would be worth a look, it called 'TFSI/TSI swapped mk1/mk2s'

You can get the OEM ECU de-immobilised which makes it easier to fit. Same principal as the 1.8T but with a higher pressure fuel pump by the tank. I think there were alot of people trying to run standalone ECUs because you could get the OEM immo to work which caused alot of problems and meaning the engine didnt run as it should.

I did/am considering doing this but it would have to be a CDL engine just for the power (I run a golf R as a daily so can recommend them) but they are expensive :( a standard mk5 GTI engine would be ok but I have a 1.8T in my C and converting it to TFSI for the small gain doesnt seem worth it (but never say never :) )

  4. Fitted an oil cooler, it came of an old Rover but will do the job.

Decided to relocate the intercooler, the place I had planned didnt really have any airflow over it.

Modified the bumper iron and made a couple of brackets

  5. OK, I have done a search and know I need these extra brackets

But I havent seen anything on how to fit them!

This is the door with these studs, it doesn't seem to fit the studs

Do I cut of the studs and rivet it to the door and if so where or is there another solution that others have used?

    Thanks

  6. You are a sucker for punishment.

I have all sorts of weird and wonderful ideas, aswell as the digi dash I'm also developing a system that will cut most of the wiring front to rear to a bare minimum by having everything controlled by CAN messages more like the modern cars, so each light unit etc has its own controller to operate it

Anyway, I wasn't 100% happy with the spraying I did the other week so this weekend I rubbed them back again and had another go, this time using a bit more thinners in the mix and I has come out alot better.

  7. I dont have one for a mk6 but I do for a new beetle which should use the same design

Unfortunately though it looks like they are not compatible

From the diagrams, the corrado switch has 2 outputs one for up and one for down but the later switches only have 1 output, the switches contain resistors and gives a different voltage depending on which way they are pressed

  8. Spent a little time studying wiring diagrams bur now have a working skoda octavia moonroof, but had to use the skoda rotary switch

Annoyingly, last night I watched the latest episode of Project Binky (google it if you dont know but like serious engineering) So in this episode they fit an auto wiper setup from a peugeot and made it look easy and now I'm thinking that looks like a good idea :)

  9. I've been looking for a shark fin that has DAB but they seem quite rare

I currently have a Hirschmann on it which is almost the same as original just a slightly different angle
