I will have to remove myself from the stand, I sold my car so am now Corrado-less :-( I'm still coming along though, see you there. Providing of course I don't drown in my own tears -

Yeah put me down for this one also -
A good epoxy resin will be stronger than the plastic used to make the coilpacks and with one pack I managed to cover about 2/3rds of the coilpack. When I did mine I read a couple of people who bought new, and then covered it in the epoxy resin, but that seems a bit daft to me

Just had to replace both rear abs sensors which should have been £82+VAT each from an independent VW garage. Got them from GPC for £20 each. £180 sounds extortionate, especially for a budget brand part!

Try spraying some water on the coilpack when its idling. You should see a bit of a lightshow (the spark shorting out on the engine block - not causing any damage) which will confirm that's the problem and show you where the crack is. I bought a 2-part epoxy resin (about £5) and sealed mine up and that was 3/4 years ago, not had a problem since. My bro had to do the same on his VR6 golf

Oil temp till it hits at least 80 and it's time to open it up. Regularly check the mpg tho, if I get more than 25 I'm clearly not trying hard enough. 10.8 was my best effort

Cheers for the info guys, pretty much as the garage told me. Best start looking around the breakers

I have checked all the usual suspects (GSF, euro car parts, GPC) and also had my local independent VW garage search around but cannot find anywhere selling these. Non-abs versions are easy to get hold of my the abs ones are like rocking horse p@@! Anyone got an idea where I can get one?

Tap this into explorer, it's got basic instructions and a picture of the setup (Illus 2). There's a better install manual on here somewhere, think it's from a Canadian forum. http://www.vr6oc.com/installation-vr6.pdf

I am replacing the seals on the ns rear caliper as it has developed a small leak. I removed the caliper and piston easy enough and replaced the 2 main seals (there is another smaller one in the kit but I can't figure out where it goes) but now I cannot get the piston back into the caliper. I have a caliper rewind tool but the piston just doesn't seem to catch properly on the thread in the caliper. Is there a technique to getting it started?

Quick question - Brake bias valve adjustment
Mark_Storm replied to diggerbucket's topic in Drivetrain
Glad I found this thread. Just did a track day at Bedford and went through 2 sets of rear brake pads in 170 miles! Changed them at lunch afer grinding them to nothing, then at the end of the day there's little left of the new ones! Will be giving this a go this weekend -
Did you have any luck sourcing these? I need a new one for my drivers door (along the bottom edge of the window) but Heritage just told me that VW don't do them anymore :(
-
Will try and get some pics of mine up on Sunday. I've just had a partial respray and left the mouldings off, looks much better

So u saw higher temps with an oil cooler? Mine generally sits around 100, up to about 120 on the ring and long autobahn runs but some of the passes ( like stelvio) were more demanding, constantly accelerating in 1st and 2nd gear, and it hit 140 a few times.
