right done the worst part getting the radiator out had real trouble with some of the screws holding the wheel arch liner on as they were corroded got the bumper and top sill off then had to clean up all the screws etc full of crap!
Also while i was there treated the rust under there!
Biggest ballache ever yes!
tomorrow first thing before christmas dinner put the new rad in and rest of the stuff back together!
Old rad definately had it ill post a pic when i get round to it split big style!
-
right theres the top hose for the top of the radiator and the bottom hose for the bottom of the rad theres a sensor it looks like above the bottom hose what is it? mine seems a bit crappy the bit thats screwed into the radiator that is! how much are they to replace?
Also is it possible for the top sill where the radiator top screws are held to be taken off for the radiator to come out??
-
yeah didnt think of that!
-
not worth taking the fan off then is it! think the safe bet is the front bumper and grill lights etc and bring it out forwards!
-
im sure we will sort it just didnt want to break nefin like clips or sumfin like that!
-
Any one on here got a step by step guide to taking the front bumper off as today me and my mate are sorting out the radiator on the VR! any help much appriciated!
-
try warming your car up first then sticking it on! mine used to fall off all the time during the winter!
-
yeah my drivers seat one doesnt work let me know how you check it in the end mate either by 12v power supply or sumfin else!!
-

will do ill have my mechanic mate doin most of it as a foreigner rather give him the money for doing a job then it goin into the company he works for if im honest!
Fully qualified mechanic passed recently and is now managing the repair shop at audi stockport and is still getting a trainees salery what a load of crap!
-
rite definately a radiator prob gettin my mate who works for audi to price one up are they aukward to fit??
-
Rite seems as tho ive got a leak from a pipe or the radiator has had it how do i know which one it is???
-
it rained the other day and i put the car straight in the garage and didnt use it yesterday so most probably water build up!
And it is cold so more noticable!
If it was the radiator leaking there would be water under the car wouldnt there?? And there isnt any!
-
could water have got trapped on the sill between the radiator and the front grille and heated up causing the steam??
I had it started the other day to double check that the fans come at the right time and they did and there was no steam then!!
So most probably water gettin trapped will double check the resevior to see!!
-
it was when i came to a stop at my house i noticed it!
-
Edit read last post!! **
**Page 4 for pics of the offending part!**
Just another quick question is it normal for there to be steam coming from the front grille after a drive out with the car reaching between 90-100 oC theres also a bit of condensation on the front grille??
The engine was hot and i imagine the fans had been on and they definately work!!
-
also there ar only two drain holes arnt they the two on either side at the front of the sunroof??
-
Rite ive noticed in the interior that im hving a bit of dampness coming thro the headlining! ive cleaned out all the drain plugs and the ducts! then i had a look at the allignment of the sunroof and it seems tho on the side where the water is coming through that it sits higher than the otherside!
So i had a look on another thead to see how to resolve the problem with accessing the 4 thorx screws on underside of the sunroof but the problem im having is removing the sunroof headling! It should slide back but my moves half an inch then nothing is there any otherway of getting to the 4 screws or any pointers on how to easily push the headling on the sunroof back???
Cheerz in advance!!
