  1. Well I got the new master cylinder on and after bleeding the system it's all good. The Eezibleed worked well apart from the tyre valve connector being crap and leaking meaning I went through six tyres worth of air at 15psi. What with the Eezibleed forcing fluid into the reservoir when you're finished you're left with an over full reservoir. What do people do about this? I opened the nearest bleed nipple and pumped out the excess with the pedal but that's not great. It risks sucking air back in.
  2. Nice work. I bought my Corrado for the same money, in at the deep end eh? Sorry to hear about your Polo, me and a mate timed each other breaking into his mk1 after he locked his keys inside. I got it down to 14 seconds including bending the coat hanger. Is that a Fantic 200 and TY175 in the garage?

    Rear Lights

I don't think most tailgaters care about seeing past the car in front. I get followed too close as often in the Sprinter van as in the Corrado and it get to me alot more lately than it used to. A lot of drivers don't know what's going on 10 yards ahead let alone their own braking distance, morons.. My missus is still suffering, and probably will for the rest of her life, because of someone ploughing into the back of us at a set of lights three odd years back. Nerve damage from a 20mph ish collision. At least it wasn't the Corrado we were in though eh? As I said it gets to me. A few weeks back a blokes keys ended up over the hedge after I'd had him 6 feet off my bumper for 10 open A road miles, on my way to an MRI for the missus' nerve injury. People think they're invincible in their little metal boxes, all the bravado and big willy bs stops when they can't run away and have to deal face to face.
  4. I don't know the mk2 hub types but the number of studs will limit your choices.
  5. They were probably pretty cheap to be honest, but sounded quite good when I had then in another car. I'll get a picture up when the camera will talk to the pc..
  6. Cool. That's a big vote of confidence. I'll get one tomorrow and pray for a dry hour or three. I'll be fitting another master cylinder at the weekend so the eezibleed should pay for itself. Sorry Supercharged I couldn't afford the genuine cylider from you, I wish I could have but bending over for the insurance mafia left me poor. I hate plumbing. I hate working on brakes, it's like plumbing with bigger consequences.
  7. Cool. Thanks. Making seals I can deal with but messing about with bodged adaptors and pressurised brake fluid I can't.
  8. Reason for the title is I'm wondering is they come as standard with an adaptor that fits the Corrados fluid reservoir. Or do I need to prepare for a bit of fabrication? I know that VW recommend a vacuum pump but I've had issues with them before. Thanks
  9. Damn straight. I had an manual E30 316i four years or so back and that was good in the snow. We passed a few stuck 4x4s. Stopped to push a couple as well. Snowboarding on Dartmoor was cool. Faster roads when there's ice about is another story..
  10. I think you're asking for a whole load of headaches on that one. The hassle (read expense) of fitting kit which isn't designed for the car will make the new standard parts look cheap. Coming at this from a different angle though. ABS isn't all that. I can't deny that for the majority of drivers most of the time it is safer. Especially as I bet that almost all of them are told what I was in driving lessons, just brake as hard as you can, ABS will take care of it.. A good, trained driver can stop quicker without ABS than they can with it. If you're a keen driver then the feeling and control of good non ABS brakes is pay off enough, I have a car without even a servo and it's great. Just a thought.
  11. I've got a set of Longmill 6x4s which fit in a beauty. I've never wired them up though as I'm using all four channels on the front speakers. If you're interested then I'll run then up and check that they're good. If not I'll get some pictures up, they may help.
  12. That's alright, with 4wd you've got 19 other studs to do the work!
  13. Long shot but.. When you tried the bolt after tapping was it with the wheel on? It's just that with wheels and spacers I would imagine there's some thread in the hub which the stud can't reach. If there's some and if it's enough turns then a longer stud might save the day. I changed the wheel bearings and CV joints on the front of my 16v. I can't remember the job that well but I didn't need a press
  14. Scratch that. They gave me the quote, took my money and sent me documents. Then yesterday a letter dated the 16/11/12 arrived telling me that the policy was cancelled and my cover would cease on 23/11/12! So I've been driving around with no insurance for over a week! I can't blame them for the letter being late with any certainty as Royal Mail is involved but not even a phone call to ensure that I knew. WTF! I got in late last night so called them today, they admitted to making an "error" and that they provided me with instant cover only to be turned down by the underwriters later on.
  15. I thought it was just air but I got plenty of fluid out of all nipples, and some air out of n/s rear. I'd like to think the master cylinder is ok but to me it seems the only possibility. Also the car has been sat for 6 months (another Corrado-less summer) and the last time I did that the clutch cylinder seals gave up so.. Am I rambling? I might jam the bias valve shut and see what difference that makes. That would at least rule out the rears.
  16. Thank you. I was hoping the Bosch would do as its £25 new.. Unfortunately having just today found out that my insurance has been cancelled due to the brokers cock up (another story) I'll have to give you a decision on it once I've sorted that out. I found this but far prefer the sound of a genuine one. Having investigated this cylinder business I'm just grateful I don't have ABS.. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BRAKE-MASTER-CYLINDER-NEW-FOR-GOLF-MK2-16V-MK3-CORRADO-TRANSPORTER-T4-CADDY-2-/390503580034?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Model%3ACorrado&hash=item5aebd3c182#shId
  17. I've decided that my master cylinder is faulty. I've got intermittent pedal feel, initially firm and working, the next press nearly to the floor though I can just about lock the o/s front wheel. I'm not losing any fluid and all the calipers and unions are dry. I had all four wheels off to bleed the brakes yesterday, I got a bit of air out of the rear n/s caliper but the brakes are no better. New hoses two years ago and the MOT man was happy with the hard lines the other week, although of course it was working fine then. As I said though I'm not losing fluid. As far as I can tell from what I've found on here there's only one type for non ABS cars but I don't know what bore size they are. I can't see any markings on mine without taking it off and only having one car at the moment means I don't really want to do that. Oh mine doesn't have a bleed nipple on it, I think some do? So can anyone tell me if a Bosch cylinder with a 20.64mm bore will fit please? If not what do I need? Thanks Ralph
  18. Yes but what I'm saying is that when I switch my high beams on the dips stay lit as well. And when I'm holding the stalk back they are still both on but brighter, with the blue dash warning light getting brighter too.
  19. Well that's what I thought... I assumed that when I was holding the stalk all the way back to go from dip to main that the extra brightness was due to both dip and high being on at the same time. Then when I released the stalk that I was only high beam left on. But no I have both running, just dimmer than with the stalk held back. Also the blue high beam warning light in the dash is brighter with the stalk held back, strange eh?
  20. When I put my full beams on the headlights are reasonably bright (I haven't yet made up new looms yet) but when I let the stalk go they go alot dimmer. Is this normal? Oh it's a 1990 16v if that makes any odds.
  21. Hi chaps. Sorry I didn't reply sooner, BT aren't on my Christmas card list now. I realised when looking closer that my bass box sits less than an inch blow the shelf so I'm going to have a rethink. MDF beckons.. lilfuzzer: What's this Blackberry VR6 of yours like? You got any links?
  22. Yes I actually want a shelf with holes in it. I've got a good shelf and I'm definitely not cutting it up. So if anyone in Cornwall or Devon has a black shelf with holes already in it then please let me know.

Welcome chap. When my 16v was my only car I was getting an average about 33mpg. 160 miles a week cruising at mostly legal speeds on dual carriageway and a few more ragging B road miles at the weekend. Sometimes I wish it were a VR6 but I love it all the same, it just seems a bit wrong that me Volvo estate is faster (in a straight line) How about a VR6 with lpg? Beats a diesel anyday.
  24. I just got a classic policy with 2gether for £150, nearly £70 less than the next best! £150 excess and only £30 more if I wanted commuting as well. It's cheaper to insure my Volvo on a standard policy and the Corrado on a classic than just the Corrado on a standard one. http://www.2getherinsurance.com/
