  1. Nope. Maybe if you replaced ALL the suspension bushes aswell with hockey pucks, you might be getting somewhere... :)
  2. I don't think you'll get that "rewarding drive" thing from a modern car. The steering is so direct and full of feel on the Corrado because the bushing and vibration damping is non-existant. There's a lot of feel through your arse, cos well, the suspension is a bit rubbish. Modern cars designed to handle rough roads (which let's face it the Corrado is AWFUL at) have too much damping, too much give, too much anti-vibration, so you don't feel what's going on any more.
  3. Specs cameras also require calibration points in the photo, you have to pass a given point. You simply can't replicate that with a direct head-on view.
  4. Oh yeah, 4x4 diff fluids replacement at 60k (I think) on the VAG quattro system. Expensive service that one..
  5. Fuel tank full or empty, Henny....?
  6. The specialist tool just holds the thing at the right angle while you bolt it up to the subframe...
  7. Sell it. It's clearly not your thing. I'm thinking of doing the same thing.. There's a nice 2.0 8v (for sensible running costs :) ) up for sale locally... Can I have your ABS pump?
  8. Point is, at the moment, the law says that the photographic evidence of a speed camera is not enough without visible, calibrated road markings so that it's possible for the police to calculate the speed FROM THE PICTURES. You can't do that when you're taking pictures from ground level. How are they going to prove it's calibrated without something like this? If they even tried to prosecute someone all they'd have to do is ask for evidence of calibration and ask them to prove you were travelling at the speed they said. It'd get thrown out.
  9. "Smart Cats Eyes being tested. ... Although the smart studs will be able to detect speeding drivers, no prosecution can result until there has been a change in the strict rules regarding where cameras can be sited. The current trials are being carried out in Kent and Scotland." NO prosecutions possible, under current law, based on cameras such as these. Of course, that's not saying they won't change the law, but...
  10. £1010!!! For a MH (the equivalent of a MAF, isn't it?) and a distributor??? Crazy!
  11. Ah, was wondering about that. Local John Lewis might have it I guess..
  12. Ah, B+Q grade top mounts. Perhaps that's why he breaks 'em so quickly. And you know full well what sort of felt I was referring to... :-p
  13. Cheeky! Probably right though.. :( What do people use for silencing squeaks and rattles then? I'm capable of removing trim, putting sticky stuff behind it and refitting it. Kev keeps mentioning this aerospace-grade dynamatting, which costs aerospace prices, looking for something cheap 'n' cheerful myself. What about felt? Perhaps sticky backed felt? Does such thing exist??
  14. What's the odds of a duffer like me being able to transfer a leather interior from one car to another? And more importantly to NOT have it rattle like a nutter afterwards...?
  15. Hmm could also be this one: 16 021 133 915 B SHOULDERED NUT WITH MULTIPOINT SOCKET HEAD M6
  16. Ick, rounded? Who by..?! There's more than two of them. Think the part number is: 12 N 905 081 01 BOLT, WITH POLYGON SOCKET HD. M6X18 http://www.elcats.ru/audivw/nn/vag4.asp ... &cyl=&vol=
  17. Are you certain the floor's flat? You telling me you can see ~8mm difference in height over 2 meters away? That's 0.5% gradient.. Try parking 90 degrees from the way you do now (yes you'll look like a plum, but you'll prove me wrong, which is a far better feeling). ;)
  18. These are not the droids you are looking for ...
  19. Ah, right. Then it was I that was confused. Nothing to see here, move along ...
  20. The rear is dropped so far that the back axle is up past the horizontal? Wow.
  21. Sounds to me like he's parked across a diagonal ridge: High . . . Low | ------ | Low . . . High
  22. daveh never actually said it pulls to one side, kev. He just said the wheel is offset from straight ahead... We're still waiting for him to clarify his question!
  23. I don't think this is your problem, IMHO. But it's up to you.
  24. "Something's not right." Yeah, most likely the shape of the ground...
  25. Definitely way over price. I think the official VW book says you have to take the radiator out to get to the alternator, and that requires removal of the front bumper and the front panel, but it's possible to do it without doing all that. £180 for a recond alternator is too much aswell, I'm sure you can buy ready-recond units for around £100, even from VW.
