  1. myne sometimes does this mate, if you turn all the lights off then turn the switch on but bypassing the sidelights, i.e, do it quickly and with a bit more force than usual, or when youve got the sidelights on give the switch a good hard push and you should see the dipped beam trying to come on

  4. its a 1.8 16v, do ya think its anything to do with the isv? most of the idle problems on the forum are to do with the isv, i told the mechanic about it and he didnt know where it was? anyone know where it is? the idle still fluctuates when its warm
  5. Just had a new head gasket fitted, which required skimming of the cylinder head, the mechanic went to run it and he said its not running right. I went down and had a drive,it feels really rough, the idle is fluctuating between nearley stalling and about 1100, and it doesnt feel as powerful. The mechanic is scratching his head as to what the problem may be so i thought id ask you guys!! He said that the housing of some the injectors is not in tip top condition (in case that helps) Please try and help guys, the cars been away for a week already and i really miss it :cry: A mechanic electrician is gona hopefully have a look at it on monday as the mechanic thinks its electrical.   6. I think those wheels are very rare mate (although you probably know that?) i was watching a programme about restoring a mk1 gti and the guy was trying to find those wheels to put on it. he said there from the campaign model?? and that the p shapes stand for pirelli :lol:

  9. to be honest mate they do get quite hot idling in traffic, is your fan cutting in to cool it down? you say when you start driving though it goes back down to 80 which is a good water temp. As long as the red warning light doesnt light or steam starts to rise from the bonnet you SHOULD be ok. make sure that fan kicks in when it should though!!

  11. Yeah mate parts as well, new thermostat,fan belt and power steering belt are all being supplied and fitted too
  12. it must be pretty labour intensive, the head gasket is only about £40 from GSF :x
  13. As a result of my car overheating :evil: (my fault) :evil: and pissing out all its coolant, the headgasket has blown! The garage that ive been too for years have quoted about £300/350 all in, this includes a couple of other minor bits im having doing aswell. Sound about right to anyone?? Cheers

    the fan switch has been changed mate and still no difference! not too sure bout the rad hoses, im not very mechanicallly minded to tell you the truth :lol:

    After a bit of research i think i need a new thermostat to cure my problems, i.e, fan ALWAYS on (when ignitions on anyway) and temp gauge never getting above 70 unless idling. i disconnected the fan today and after driving round for a bit it got to 70 (just) then after idling for a good 5 mins it got to 90, drove for a bit went back down to 70. What exactly is the thermostat? how much will it cost? is it a pig to fit, will it take a mechanic long to do it? thanks guys. :-P
  16. no it makes the jolting all the time, at the extreme of the lock it rubs on the arch slightly but that never bothered me, will it just need tightening or could it need replacing?
  17. when my car is sationery the sterring feels very heavy and jolty, ie, the sterring wheel doesnt turn round smoothly and there is a nasty squeaking noise! any help greatley appreciated, thanks alot. 8)

In the past 2 weeks i have recieved: 3 points and a £60 fine for doing 30mph in a 20 zone :shock: A £50 parking ticket And finally.... 2 £50 fines for driving in a bus lane :( I just hope my points dont put up my already high insurance. Now hows all that for bad luck, oh yeah and my temp gauge is playing up aswell as of 2 days ago!!! I think this is the price you pay for having trouble free corrado motoring for a good six months :)
  19. ive changed the rad fan switch and it still does it! the gauge always used to read at least 70 but as of yesterday only reached the minimum line

As of yesterday my temp gauge decided to stop just at the minimum line,below 70. i had a look under the bonnet with the engine running and fiddled with a few of the switches/leads coming out of the expansion tank, this seemed to make the temp gauge show just about 70 for a few seconds but then drop down again? my water temp has actually never gone above 75 as my rad fan is always on! i did ask how i could remedy this but cant find the post now :( any ideas on both the problems? cheers chaps.
  22. i agree it looks like a de lorean!!! i really dont like the look of this car, maybe without the spoiler and ''air intakes'' it may look half decent. i think id be embaressed driving round in that :shock:
  23. i am very good 'friends' with a spanish lady :wink: she told me that it comes from the spanish word corrador (spelling) which is a name for a runner!
  24. they defo dont do an induction kit for the 1.8, aint to sure what a panel filter will really increase though??!!
  25. Synta silver, endorsed by vw, cheap as chips (compared to most other good oils) avaliable at vw dealerships or places like german swedish. i think its the only oil vw recomend. ive got a 1.8 16v with 125k and it seems to like this oil :lol:
