  1. Its with Footman James - 0843 357 1917 I don't have a contact there, literally ring up and ask for a new quote for a classic car and you want an agreed valuation. It has to be a limited mileage policy to be able to have one though.

    wiper blades!?!

Here is my set up: Drivers side Arm: 6X2955410C (Approx 19.5" long from tip to centre of fixing point) Passenger Side Arm: 6X2955410A (Approx 19" long) (Both are indecently Lupo drivers side wipers, but the C prefix is the later arm: maybe they changed the design?) Wiper Blade set: 1J2998002A (drivers side 19", Passenger 21") - I paid £14.96+vat from TPS September 2011 And how they wipe: Visibility is great and they work perfect. If you check your wiper arms, they should have a part number on the underside.
  3. OOO.. Whats the details of the kit and whats it come with? PM me if you want?
  4. I'm looking at buying a Mocal kit for my VR6, I've been doing the research but there is no definitive thread. I'm planning on going the external oil cooler fitted behind the grill and in front of the radiator, with braided hoses, a thermostatic sandwich plate and fully removing the existing oil cooler. Questions: Will a 16x235mm Oil cooler be ok? Is the the extension bolt I need to fasten the sandwich plate to the retaining cap/engine: http://www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk/p3400/VOLKSWAGEN-VR6-EXTENSION-BOLT/product_info.html I plan on fully removing the existing oil cooler. How do I know if my current retaining bolt/cap is the type which can be split? I know it's the early type which is needed but is there any visual check I can do before I remove mine? Any idea on how long the hoses need to be and if I require straight or 90 degree fixings Where can I buy a full kit?, or is buying separate parts better? (read cheaper) Thanks. :thumbleft:
  5. I'm not to sure really going by those. But I would have thought it was the second one. The barcode sticker on my spare one says: 41762HC 9x12" stick-on felt black. So yes, id say I have the felt.. To be fair, the foam might actually be better at the job? More padding? I literally picked up the first one I saw which was suitable as it was on offer, I hate hobby craft! Sorry for being misleading in my original post.
  6. Just to bump this old thread of mine.. I still have no idea where to mount an oil catch tank.. Can anyone advise? :thumbleft:
  7. Whaat!? thats sweet! But how did they know you only did 1,000 miles out of interest?
  8. Thanks for everyone's kind words. It means a lot to have a nice car that other appreciate, especially a Corrado. Let me know if you need any assistance, you still have my number? It's easy anyway, can't go wrong really, VW got it right first time round and just re-new where ever the old stuff is. Yep, the £5,000 agreed value came through this morning, I'm chuffed as in a worse case scenario I don't have to go through the hassle I'm having with my Gold which was stolen 12 months ago where I am still awaiting a settlement! Cheers! The dab of superglue like you recommended did the trick! The roof lining and everything under it was absolutely fine for some reason? Saying that the ariel was replaced a few years back, maybe they did a proper job!!?
  9. I'll take these. The illumination works right? PM me the payment details please.
  10. Thanks man! That means a lot as you have one of the nicest Corrado's out there! The interior is pretty much rattle free now.. Well the rear anyway. Cheers dude, the colour does grow on you!
  11. I'm up for this.. Put me down! anyone got a OBD2 conversion who's going?
  12. Next I tackled a annoying dash vent which always sat like this and flopped around: The culprit a missing metal fixing on the vent: I bought a full set of vents from dragon green off here (thanks) which had the clips intact: Voila! All fixed.. I also replaced the front and rear engine mounts with the Poly ones from Jay's group buy.. Made a mucho's difference in the stability of the engine and it now doesn't flop around. On idle it has a little more vibration than I'd like, but I put the majority of this down to the VR's crap low lumpy idle, hopefully a OBD2 conversion will solve this, if not I have a brand new rear VAG mount I can put on. but overall I'm well pleased with these. Fitting of them was a real ball ache though. I did the rear mount first and it took about 20 mins. the front mount did not want to budge. The top bolt snapped flush straight away, then 2 out of the three bottom bolts rounded and I ended up having to use a oxygen acetylene torch to heat them up to get them off. Then I had to drill and tap the top of the mount for a new bolt. i don;t have any pictures of this as I took about 3 hours and I didn't have time to stop for photo's! :bonk: Last for the update.. Just took some photo's for my agreed valuation to show off the condition of the car, so I'll share: MMmmmmmm.. Like glass! Interior: Lets hope they give me the £5,000 agreed valuation I've requested! ---------- Post added at 12:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:46 PM ---------- Apologies for the spelling mistakes, it won't let me edit for some reason? Last little arty Instagram photo: Oh, I'm also looking for a late Mk3 Golf VR (OBD2) for my OBD2 conversion! Yay!
  13. Nice little update, nothing important, just the little things. First off I have started stripping and re-fitting the interior with the aim of getting the interior rattles to disappear, especially in the rear of the car... So first things first I stripped the rear interior down, thats door cards, rear seats, C-pillars, parcel shelf supports etc: I then located any broken clips on the door cards: Then replaced them with new ones.. The clips were bought from eBay agggeeesss ago for my Mk2 but were never used, same as these ones: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10x-Interior-Trim-Clips-Door-Cards-Trim-Panels-Boot-Linings-Dashboards-/270877215020?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AVW&hash=item3f118a492c I then started looking at all the interior foam/felt which sits in-between any two surfaces on the pillar trims and parcel shelf supports, this pretty much changes the surface touching to stop squeeks and creates a tight bond to stop rattle. As you can see 20 years has taken its toll: This was all replaced: And the stuff used? 49p a sheet of A4 self adhesive felt from hobby craft. 3 A4 sheets would be more than enough for a full interior. i used less than 1 sheet for the entire rear interior. I even wrapped the rear bench fixings which is where the majority of the rattles were coming from. The clamps which hold the seats in were loose and rattled, now they are nice and tight! I also used some old felt rings I had spare on the rattley seatbelt brackets, I think these are originally from some old rear door card clips off my G60:

    wiper blades!?!

I went for a MK4 Golf set from VW. It's a twin set consisting of both front blades, both are the same length but one has an offset centre which i think is for the passenger side (but don't quote me - they will only fit one way round anyway). These fit perfect in my opinion. Other people prefer x2 Mk4 Golf Drivers side blades. Personal preference really.
  15. Well, £700-£800 for a car with no T&T is a good price. As it's been sat for ages you don;t know what things have seized or what horrors may arise when it's MOT'd or driven for the first few weeks. It depends how much time you have really and how confident you are in the car for passing the MOT. I would say £1500-give or take for the car with T&T in the condition you've described. £2000 will find you a very good condition VR6 nowadays as the value of these have dropped as of late.
  16. Sunroof motor arrive today.. Fitted and working perfect. Thanks very much!
  17. Magnex are still alive and kicking. They went into administration but were saved. Bought from them a few months back.
  18. As the title really.. I'm after some late spec drivers side window switches. The pair. Must be fully working, including the illumination. PM me please. Thanks
  19. I think I have a mint one from my G60 I'm breaking. I know it has both tabs on the back and isn't cracked or deeply scratched or marked. I'll have a look tomorrow to confirm.
  20. just to jump into this thread.. Are VR6 rear bushes different to the G60/16v/8v's?
  21. I'll take these. PM me payment info please.
  22. Update on this.. Ended up going the classic route with. 4,500 mile policy. If/when I know I'm going to go up to that allowance I'll probably look at getting a 2nd car. I'm currently insured on my parents cars which they never use so I do have a 2nd car to drive around if need be. Went with Footman James in the end, £409 all on with a £5,000 agreed valuation. Peter Best was this price but with a 5,000 miles limited policy. I went with Footman James in the end as I felt their level of service was slightly better. Originally the FJ quote was around the £500 mark but I received a very good follow up phone call which matched Peter Bests price of £409, then a very comprehensive paper quote explaining the policy came through a few days later - Peter Best couldn't beat their original quote (and didn't even try to be honest) and no paper quote from them. I feel finding a company with good customer service is worth it's weight in gold.. Don't get me wrong, Peter Best was very good but Footman James just clinched it this time.
