  1. As always some great comments and advise.

What would this be like, fitting standard new shocks and a set of good quality lowering springs on the car and what handling and ride would be the end result.

i have been thinking of this for a while myself but not sure what to do.

Just don't want to end up making any mistakes.

    No offence Dylan.

You'll achieve best results if the springs and dampers are matched together. Infact, to achieve the best handling and comfort the springs/dampers/bushes/tyres/geometry all needs to work in harmony together.

The main problem with putting shortened/uprated springs onto the regular OE dampers is that the damper will be working in a "travel" range it's not designed to work in. Also, the spring could dislodge as being shorter it will not be under any tension when the load is taken off the wheel(s).

  2. The original one out of mine was a OE VW SACHS one, stamped with VW part number and SACHS as the manufacturer. Never gave me any issues and it wasn't even bloody worn when I took it out! That was at 79k miles.

The new one I've put in as I'd already bought the complete KIT when doing the chains was a SACHS one. No issues at all with it.

  3. Why is it that when someone is selling some front seats or the whole car they ALWAYS seem to forget, or intentionally avoid, taking a picture of the drivers seat lower and upper outer seat bolsters.

This is the bit that shows the true wear and tear!!

Yet they always seem to take excellent photos of the rear seats and the passenger front seat!!

  4. I could do with the rears as I was thinking of putting some speakers in mine so a set already damaged is cool. If the buyer for the fronts doesn't want the rears could you throw them in a bin bag and I pay for postage? Cheers.

If the buyer for the fronts doesn't want the rears, then yeah sure you can have them for just the postage cost.

  5. Thanks everyone, it wasn't for sale but I was persistant and it paid off!!

The tricky thing is what to do with the underneath, the car is unbelievably clean and I dont want to take away the originality of the car. I'm going to have a good think before winter and decide the best way forward.

    A fantastic original Corrado. Superb.

The best thing to do with the underneath of the car is precisely nothing. If it ain't broke then don't try to fix it.

  8. What i'm looking to do is to make some which are as close as possible to the originals. With some cars selling for £1500, sometimes less, it seems a bit surprising that people will spend £300 for strips of plastic. Each to their own, however, its not for me to judge.

The outer window strips are actually going to be quite difficult because they will require a specific mould to be made up. Again, i'm looking at simpler lower cost alternatives to be made.

That's fair enough. The only advice/thing I will say is that you won't get anywhere near the originals as they are not simply a moulded plastic.

What you may be able to do is have a one piece moulding manufactured. It will look okay if a manufacturer can do it for you and it may be reasonably cheap and cost effective.

  9. Good job I'm not in it to be a show pony then.

Neither am I Sean, I use my VR everyday, but the facts are the facts, so don't shoot the messenger.

I have another new set which I'm keeping for myself. I'd be happy to let them be copied, but as I've said before, they're a 4 piece construction and not easy (if not impossible) to replicate

  10. Absolutely 100% spot on.

If you're restoring a car to perfection then you will pay big money for obsolete parts. At the end of the day, a Corrado will NEVER win a concours competition if it doesn't have perfect OE roof trims.

If you don't drink, don't smoke etc and NEED them you'll pay ££££s for what ever you want.

They're in your sight and if the roof is polished to perfection a tatty set of trims will stand out like a sore thumb, I could live with it, others can't.

The chances are a copy would be less durable than OE VAG parts in the same way all other replacement parts are?

  11. Unused Janspeed Branch Manifold

Bought this genuine Janspeed 2 piece branch manifold many years ago for my MK2 Scirocco, but never fitted it. So it's completely unused.

    It's for an 8v engine.

It may fit a 8v/G60 Corrado, may even fit a 16v one.

It's a 2 piece manifold so I'm pretty sure it could be made to fit.

So selling for 50 which I think is a bargain.

    Collection from Birmingham.

  12. Would love to buy this.. Just a bit out of price range. What's better this manifold or shrick one?

The Schrick manifold has tuned inlet runners so it will give slightly better top end bhp than the VSR.

However, the VSR allows the spark plugs to be changed while it is in situ. Also, as the VSR was made in limited numbers and is genuine VW, it will always be more sought after and valuable.

  14. Unless it's Kip's you may have to stretch your budget though his is mint and well worthy of more than 7k and his is shiny everywhere ;)

I've never seen Kip's car in the flesh so I can't comment on it.

However, I have seen lots of other "shiny" ones and they have been terrible cars.

  15. "Yeah never had a sherry before so all new lol! i like the no sunroof too. It still has your old Koni's on too lol! still feel as tight as a mouses ear ole "

Them Koni STR.T's are excellent and completely overlooked by most on this forum. They are proof you don't need to spend mega bucks to get a sweet handling whilst comfortable car!
