  1. The ECU part number 021 906 258 CP in your log is the correct ECU which is fitted to a late VR6. I've checked it against mine, a 1995 VR6 and it's the same.
  2. Just changed mine to Redline MTL and can recommend it too.No issues with the gear change, nice and smooth when cold not notchy at all. Expensive to buy but I've used it in my past VW gearboxes with good results.Got an online discount with Opie oils at the time which helps.
  3. Mine were sitting flush with the gearbox casing before taking the old ones out.So I just knocked the new ones into the same position. The seals have a double lip that runs on the plated journal of the driveshaft cups. There might be a witness mark on them where the old ones ran on them. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk

    Gearbox seals

No worries, hope it helps you out. Don't get covered in gearbox oil like I did. Hate that stuff, smells like cat **** and diesel mixed together! Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk

This video does a good job of explaining how to do it. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk

Here's the one I used. Plenty online for about £6. Then just tapped the new ones in flush with the gearbox casing with a bit of wood. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk

    VR6 MAF Help

Ok, thanks for that at least I know my loom hasn't been altered in any way. Might order another one from my local TMS as I'm returning the one I bought online.I think it must have the wrong core fitted. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk

    VR6 MAF Help

Bought a new Bosch MAF for my 95 VR6 part number 0280 217 504 the same that is on my original. It arrived today but the connecting socket is slightly smaller and has two extra tabs so my loom plug won't fit! Phoned the online supplier and gave them my reg number to double check and they said it should fit. Also phoned the dealer, they say the VW part number is 021 906 462 but none available. Can anyone help out? What's your part number and what does your plug look like? Cheers Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  9. No worries, hope you find that bolt and get back on the road soon. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  10. I've just replaced the chains on mine and used a beam because of the cost and space constraints. Got mine secondhand but you can get the same one for £40 here: https://www.manomano.co.uk/miscellaneous-lifting-accessories/engine-hoist-support-beam-500kg-1100lbs-810702?model_id=810702 Bought a M12 threaded bar and supported the gearbox through a 10mm hole on casing with a "d" shackle which is the approximate center of gravity. I removed the o/s driveshaft and the flange on gearbox so I could just wind it up and down with the nut on top of the beam. Hope this helps, good luck. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  11. The Sealey VS820.V4 won the group test in the February Car Mechanic's magazine. Can be bought for about £45 if you shop around. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  12. Wow, looking very shiny. You'll need sunglasses working in that engine bay! Are you still going to paint the plastic rocker cover?
  13. No, haven't tried it so can't comment. I do use Dodo Supernatural Hybrid on the wife's car and that's still beading water after 3 months. Gives me more time to pamper the VR. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  14. Hi Chris, Probably on lasts about 4 weeks because its a soft wax but the advantage imo is that you get a deep wet look your paintwork. Inbetween washes I top it up with Dodo Juice Red Tropical mist spray which keeps it looking good longer. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
  15. No worries delf, lets us know how you get on.
