kongo127 0 Posted February 25, 2005 They are located in Florida. I know 2 mates that are very happy with their service. Even with the shipping costs, i think it´s a fair price...
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 25, 2005 They certainly look good mate but to send a box over, get it built and ship it back again will cost us a bucket load! The best box builder in the UK is Stealth. Vince used to be on the payroll at Gemini and what he doesn't know about boxes isn't worth knowing. He completely stripped and rebuilt an 02A in less 3 hours last time I was there!! kongo127 0 Posted February 25, 2005 Now that´s what i call super fast service! :D
fla 9 Posted February 26, 2005 How much does he charge for a rebuild?
Supercharged 2 Posted February 26, 2005 Who Vince? - I think about £550 for a standard rebuild...
Storm 0 Posted February 26, 2005 If you were to want to try to do this yourself. Where would you buy parts?
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 28, 2005 And they're not cheap! I wouldn't try it myself personally, a lot of the bearings and a few other bits and bobs need a preload. Probably easy for someone in the know to setup, but if you don't know, could be a costly mistake....
Henny 0 Posted February 28, 2005 you also need several thousand pounds worth of specialised VW tools to get the VAG boxes apart and back together properly again... :| Much better to send it to Vince and have him work his magic on it... 8)
kongo127 0 Posted February 28, 2005 I agree! VW boxes are such a pain!
24V Renshaw 0 Posted February 28, 2005 I will be stripping and re-building mine in two weeks time. I am fitting my new Quaife Diff as well while it is apart. I will try and post as much detail as I can when I do it, just to show people these things can be done. :)
