junkie 0 Posted April 30, 2005 Hi guys Who prefers what? Any1 got experience of IHI turbos in general or any turbo on a G60? Whats peoples thoughts on using a turbo? Is it taking away what a G60 is all about?
VEEDUBBED 0 Posted April 30, 2005 I've made my first corrado's engine using a kkk24 turbo lifted off an american spec. audi 5000 turbo, good turbo, quick spool up and easy to instal using a golf TD moddid ex. mani. Then i fitted a 16v head to the PG block and used a Garret T3/4 turbo lifted off a delta intergrale, exellent preformance but quite laggy when using a large intercooler. Now i've built a 2000cc 9A G60.16valver,when the car comes out of the bodyshop i'll let you know what differences ther are.

ben16v 0 Posted May 4, 2005 whats an IHI turbo compared to another turbo??
junkie 0 Posted May 4, 2005 IHI is the company as in usually you know Garett! Will be of roller bearing design as this keeps producing more boost for longer i think?
CoxyLaad 0 Posted May 4, 2005 Let us know what its like when you get time I take it its a turbo conversion on a g60 lump?

I'm mildly interested .. :) Let use know what it drives like and the spec' of your engine! Interested in what the lag is like and also where the headline power and torque figures come in. Jim 2 Posted May 5, 2005 Course we'd be interested.. not many turbo Corrado's about round here :) Pics and vids if possible please! :D
chrishill 0 Posted May 5, 2005 whats the advantage of swapping out the S/C for a turbo? more boost?
junkie 0 Posted May 5, 2005 Yea more boost is only reason swapping eventually gonna change the rods to run 2bar any1 know what else might go at that pressure? Should not be too laggy as IHI already proven? Yea goin on a G60 will report later after having a 2 hour run on the old A1. Engine spec so far:- 1900 JE forged pistons Big valve head ported and polished Piper 285 cam Lightened and balanced bottom end Pro alloy intercooler Big IHI turbo i think? Dump valve Gonna run about 1.2 bar i think till the turbo runs in,then couple of weeks or so get set up to run maximum the rods can take which i think is 1.5bar. If it then comes away with 300BHP i will be happy is this optimistic??? Trying to get 320Bhp eventually 100% increase over standard all into front wheel drive huh........ gibber 0 Posted May 5, 2005 SOrry to tell you mate but it aint going to grip, take it from one who knows!
junkie 0 Posted May 5, 2005 Yea was doing 260BHP with 250torque before and in the wet was bad but in the dry was well sweet all this about more than 220BHP in front wheel drive cars is a waste i dont believe!!!
gibber 0 Posted May 5, 2005 Im still runnin a standard diff, and my VR is pants, wet or dry! Okay it grips in the dry, but there is no way I can get the full power down in all the gears.
junkie 0 Posted May 5, 2005 Thats my next job Quaife diff in top secret gearbox, just waitin for the standard diff to give up the ghost....... Mine is not that bad but does the extra weight affect things been a big VR?????? Doin what i can to get grip wider tyres, lightweight wheels, anti-roll bars seems to be working so far! dubmad 0 Posted May 6, 2005 Hi guys Who prefers what? Any1 got experience of IHI turbos in general or any turbo on a G60? Whats peoples thoughts on using a turbo? Is it taking away what a G60 is all about? to be quiet honest i think turboing a g60 is sacralage couldnt u pick another type of raddo to do it too like a 16valver or summat!? but then hay the more people that ruin g60s the more mine is worth ! :D
olly elworthy 0 Posted May 9, 2005 how is the ihi beast going?
junkie 0 Posted May 10, 2005 Rack Yea pull me up no worries. dubmad Maybe so but now its just so much better and can still easily convert back to G-Lader. Its not like i thought get a corrado and turbo it, ive had it now for 2&half years its a constant progression and already done too much to start again. You talk about ruining em maybe some people think you have judging by your sig??????????? Each for their own..................
junkie 0 Posted May 10, 2005 Any way been mad time recently not had time to report on how it is. If im honest its the first time ive had a turbo and honestly its so much better than the old G-Lader or the BBM, not saying they are not good as we all know they are, just generally nicer to drive now, loads more torque add at the mo running less boost than on BBM only 1bar. Getting mad boost controller next week and finished fully then proper 300 BHP and torque to match  No lag hardly less than i thought comes on full boost by 3000RPM which some might think is bad but its not. Any1 know what this would equate to at the wheels power wise if its 300BHP???
junkie 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Any1 on here got their car at Jabba at the moment gettin this done this week?? Any 1 else thinkin bout takin this route out of curiosity??
Rob_B 0 Posted May 11, 2005 dont think i would take my car back to jabbasport again, i think supercharged is a dirty word over there!
junkie 0 Posted May 11, 2005 I know some people do have problems with them but never had any issues with them myself. Dont think its a dirty word but admittedly IMO wish i had done this sooner!!!!
biggerbigben 0 Posted May 11, 2005 Any1 on here got their car at Jabba at the moment gettin this done this week?? Any 1 else thinkin bout takin this route out of curiosity?? make sure elton and James take you out in their cars! Eltons rallye pulls like a train and James FWD Golf is also very impressive, both running over 340bhp! Mine should make it up there before the end of the year!
