bullockm 0 Posted May 23, 2005 Need new back part of exhaust and was wondering if any one could recomend a good solution I have herd that the two above are the leading manufacturers. Whats the deal with cat bypass, noise, price etc??
biggerbigneil 0 Posted May 23, 2005 Milltek do a very good performance cat so you will still pass your MOT My Milltek is very good, very solid hangers were fitted as well and there is nearly no movement. They are also pretty quiet at medium revs - motorway driving. Flooring it and Idle are louder but I think sportier also, like a TVR Chimera when you floor it I think! CaiosG60 PWR 0 Posted May 23, 2005 I'd recommend a Supersprint, but I would say that because that’s what I have. Can’t really comment on a Miltek as I haven’t got one. If you decide on a Supersprint this place is the cheapest http://www.motorsportworld.co.uk
NickRStorm 0 Posted May 23, 2005 I've had both on my Golf VR6 smoker & the Supersprint was, frankly, awful. It was always banging on something underneath & after 4 years / 55K miles it rotted out round the exit of box 2. By contrast, the 2 years with the Miltek has been a joy. A much better fit and a more refined noise which doesn't get stupidly loud after a long blast down the motorway. Just saving up the pennies to do the Storm now 8)
dr_mat 0 Posted May 24, 2005 Oh god the weekly "which exhaust" thread... Well I have a VW one and it's lovely. PLEASE will someone find a BIG "which exhaust" thread and sticky it??
NickVR6 0 Posted May 24, 2005 My cat is original and the rest was fitted at a main dealer 6years ago and still going strong! I wont be replacing it until it falls off, but when it does it will be hard to justify anything other than VAG. If i do, reading most things on the site, it would be a miltek, NO QUESTION.. Mind you, vag are going down hill in my book.................. and if i told you some things that have gone on my fathers 1.8t gti after 17k it would make your hair curl, sorry, ill tell that story another time. Perhaps it will be a miltek, after what they did to my old man at the stealers.
woody 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Miltek's come with a lifetime warrenty for the owner who purchased it. I really like my miltek and staight through pipe instead of cat, on my C but all i had before was a rotted out standard before
VR6 0 Posted May 25, 2005 Oh god the weekly "which exhaust" thread... Well I have a VW one and it's lovely. PLEASE will someone find a BIG "which exhaust" thread and sticky it?? Problem is that they are never conclusive! We could do with a little article that has the merits and downfalls of each - including standard VW option. Problem is that probably no one has tried them all.
dr_mat 0 Posted May 25, 2005 They never can be conclusive, given that people are looking for different sound/tailpipes etc - it's a personal taste issue. We need an "which exhaust FAQ"..
Jim 2 Posted May 25, 2005 Ok.. i'm gonna make a sticky thread for this exact purpose.. edit - and here it is: http://www.the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=25077
