How fast

Recommended Posts

I was travelling to work the other day, when a black 55 plate Astra was following me. It had an Irmscher front grill etc. and looked quite nice. 8)

As the road opened up a bit, I thought I would give him a run. :x

Floored it in 2nd, 3rd, and then into 4th. Thought by then I ought to slow down a tad. Anyway the Astra was just about keeping up with me, and I was pulling away by the time i went into 4th. :)

As I slowed to let him past, I saw that it was a bloke from round my way, and that it was a Astra GSi 2.0 Turbo ( Not the VXR).

Anyway, my car only has a Jabbasport Induction kit, and a Full Magnex exhaust plus cat replacement pipe, and its got 177,000 miles on it. :o

Not bad. Anyone else beated stuff they thought not possible? :?:

Please say he thought that until you streamed past without even stressing the engine.... Oh the humility of it... loosing to a Corsa

Erm, I havn't raced a lot really.

I beat an mr2, golf gti, saxo vtr, fiesta ztec s, some escort and the usual noddies around.

Theres some cool dual carriage ways about 10 seconds from me with roundabouts which are fun and was playing with an integra, he was pulling away from me but not by a lot, plus he had the advantae of going faster round the roundabouts cos my bushes were bad.

Yeah the old 2.0T was 204BHP in the CaliBRA and the Cavalier. That old red top engine was a good one. These days, the hot hatches are a bit luke warm!!!

well with all the pedestrian and driver safety they have to include adds weight to slow them horses down considerably. But have to say there is not much in it between my mates new Mk5 GTI and mine :D

Having said that I did get spanked round a roundabout tonight by a Punto, I just couldnt get the power down till the straight.

Nothing wrong with that, my mate's punto is bloody quick, he took it to the Nurburgring and it did very well!

Not many cars tend to race me :? I have to admit I find racing things like scoobys the most fun despite the fact they beat me everytime. More of a challenge than the random saxos, corsas etc. who think that when you slow down at 130, and they then overtake you 5mins later once they've caught up that they won

Ive had a few races, Top End not much can match my raddo.

TT 225, overtook me at 90 and kept pulling away until 120 then bye bye

Lotus Elise, again top end, i think they only go to 125mph

Ive taken mine to about 145Mph, I think she can do about 155

My mates got any RX7, which im to scared to race because when I lose, i will properly want one.

Cant wait to come up aginst the new GTI

Lotus Elise

had some fun with one of those, the old shape if that makes a difference! from 30ish up to 90ish it was fairly even, he was sat on my bumper but wasnt trying to overtake, which he had planty of room to do. once we hit the low 100's I think the lighter weight and aerodynamic properties of the elise won through, he pulled out and passed me fairly convincingly. didnt get chance to get up to higher speeds and claw back any pride :(

My MK1 Golf which was fully stripped and lightened with 1 bucket seat and a tuned 1.8 8v engine had quite a few cars, but my quickest was a Renault 5 GT Turbo which on a weigh bridge came out at 703Kg and was rolling roaded at 186bhp so 265bhp per Tonne   had the following Kill list.

Scooby Wrx running 300bhp on a M Plate

Nissan Pulsar GTIR running 278bhp on a K plate

Both were my mates cars

Porsche Carrera S upto 120mph Private road obviously

Seat Leon Cupra Type R

Tuned Golf R32

2.0 16v Powered MK1 Golf

And every chav Nova and Fiestadriver that thought they owned a quick 1.2 cheery bomb powered peice of C**p

beaten several chav incarnations/hot hatches/calibra-esques...

civic type r - tried a few of these and have noticed thats theres little between my g60 and a type r - they do pull away, but not by that much.

struggled with clio 182s/ibiza cupra rs - either beaten or level

scooby's beat me everytime

clio 182's are easy meat (or were) in the VR, they get off the lights first but I never had a problem with one once things got serious.

clio 182s are quick, had a good run at one on the motorway, pretty even, but I started to gain at 120ish, could really go any faster due to trafic
