Kick Up The Rs 0 Posted July 6, 2006 What about a gearbox with proper 1st and 2nd gear ratios to get it off the mark & up to 60 with minimal fuss??? A s/h mk3 GTI gearbox wouldn't cost that much would it?
chrishill 0 Posted July 6, 2006 the mk3 GTI box isn't very strong by all accounts, arent VR 1st/2nd cogs a more common swap?

billinjah 0 Posted July 7, 2006 id do the head, get a toothed belt kit when you d get bored and want more boost
Henny 0 Posted July 10, 2006 if you're going to do the head properly, it's gonna cost you a damn site more than £500 by the time you've added in new bolts, gaskets, water flanges, oil, coolant etc etc etc etc.... The two modded heads I've had have both cost more than £500 on their own. The one that Billinjah now has for his car cost me around £500 exchange and the one on my car now I don't want to put into print what it cost me!  (Bill, I'll dig out the receipt for that head and send it down to you next time I get to my storage unit... 8) )
