Wrote of my G60 last night. 2nd offer from insurance -page 3

Recommended Posts

These are one of the main reaons I wouldn't put my Corrado away for winter like most people do......

What I mean is after all the hard work and pampering,Its taken away in a split second... Now whats the pointin that????

Glad to see you enjoyed some of your hard work though .... I'm sure you'll be back with better :)

Well got the letter this morning and I have been offered the grand total of

£325.

They do not consider the car special nor rare nor sought after from looking into current price's and demand for the model.

Car has 150 on the clock mint paintwork and mint interior with no seat bolster damage at all.

They do how ever state they are ready to pickup the wreck at any time...

I imagine they are eager to sell it to a Corrado only braker.

So what ya think?

Thoughts apreciated on my nextcourse of action. I have all receipts from the rebuild i'm hopeing that will throw more money my way

£325.

That's an insult tbh

Don't except their offer, get as many pics of the car it all it's glory with reciepts etc for the money you've spent and send them copies along with evidence of other Corrado's of the same quality for sale at prices FAR more than they have offered you.

That's why I'm covered TPF&T only. I can't see the point in paying a penny more for cover I'll never use due to the hilarity of the valuations. Nobbers.

tell them to fuck off, refuse the first 2 offers, they will try and pay as least as possible! Get cut outs from auto trader, ebay, parkers price guide etc. send them all to them WITH pictures of your car when it was mint before the crash!

Hope you get it sorted!

Ive had 4 accidents, non my fault and have had to go through the crap of insurance pay outs so many times, its shit!

£325!

That is just insulting.

Just do what the ham lover (Walesy) suggested, get some prices for equivelent G60's, especially from on here and send those to them along with copies of your receipts etc.

When you do send make sure you send it by recorded delivery, it is only a few pence more and ensures that whoever is dealing with your claim has to sign for it in person.

Yup, always decline first two offers.. and in this case back it up with a parkers valuation at A-1 level (gotta be at least 1k?), ads from everywhere showing similar cars go for loads more plus back up with copies of all your reciepts..

BTW there's a G60 shell up for sale somewhere IIRC

Well after building a massive portfolio ofreceipts and photos I Today got a 2nd offer on my beloved Corrado......

£3100 :D

So that is a massive jump from £325.

It is well worth documenting any work done on Yr car.

I asked for the car they have refused. Its a specific write off and its an old car. They said the car has to be govermentally legally broken up?? Anybody shed any light on this? I want to get alotof stuff of the car which I will be starting tomorrow. namely my new shockers, SNS ECU Remove the new VR6 clutch and somehow keep my newley rebuilt Gwerks charger..-lus more beside.

So feedback is well received from ya all.

Oh hope you all had a great new year.

what cat wirte off is it?

if its a D or C then you can buy it back , i bet its a B

just tell em its your car and you wont take the offer , unless you get to keep it 300 sounds a good price for the car back.

I got mine for 200 and got 2k back for it to be modded to the moon :D

Yes its a B something. Something to do with Old cars. I would realy love the car back the body is shattered but engine n box ect are just so good its got a 1.9 bottom end. Runs beautifully. Will be callin Gwerks tomorrow. Darren said he had a shatterd charger so get that n swap it over. They said the car is to be taken to a reclamation secure yrd to be broken up?? last time I saw one of those my X wifes escort was in onei went to get the Aloys of it. They said i could take what ever i wanted. They use or sell no parts jut reclaim ie Alloy head goes in the alloy skip etc

Do you think the yard will look close at the car ie Oh look a supercharger is missing??

Jesus! - I think i'd have to advise anyone with a Corrado to get an agreed payout policy!!!

That's why I've got one with all mods declared and pictures supplied Steve.

May be so but when I had a quote it only cost £20 more to be fully comp. and that included the use of a hire car and legal protection.

We have an agreed value of £3k on our G60, its the only way to go with classics.

Had the same on our old Splitty as on paper it was not worth much (was an old 65 with plenty of Patina and original) but had to insure it for £10k as that what it would cost to buy another. Had to get a friend from the SSVC (Split Screen Van Club) to do the valuation for them to agree to before they would accept the value tho!

I'll be going to a specialist insurer with agreed value on the Rado when my insurance is due in the summer, i couldn't this time around as most specialists require you to be 21, and im still at the young age of 20
