Goldie 2 Posted February 28, 2007 Ive finaly got round to binning my existing 3 prong wheel nuts as they are a big problem in the making!! Its been years since ive purchsed any locking nuts so does anyone have any recommendations?? Id like something that has a good reputation for durability. Also, are the wheel nut covers available from the dealers or is there somewhere else i can get them and how much?? Thanks...
dukest 0 Posted February 28, 2007 got mine direct from the stealers after being messed around at 'frauds (completely different bolt shape on the ones "supposedly" for the corrado vr) parts guy at vw said they're the same kind they've used on recent golfs etc. not given them too much use taking wheels on and off yet but they seem sturdy enough.. EDIT will check price £40odd seems high thinking about it..

Many thanks where did you find this thread from dave lol revival from 2007! ;) not sure on the nut covers but I do have some of these on the valver, no rust, shiny & locking nuts too http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/230863615488?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D230863615488%26_rdc%3D1
Chuggs1 10 Posted February 4, 2016 Afternoon M8. Lol - just google searched as could not find anything when I did a search on here and thi9s was the only one that came up. - May have to go down the route of shiny bolts but wanted to try and locate plastic covers first to follow standard. bought some off ebay for £10 but they are too short and sit well down into the wheel nut like standard at all and VWE Heritage only sell the same ones. The ones on the car are almost white now - looking very grubby - have tried to clean them in various ways but to no avail. Also have about 4 or 5 missing too. Is nothing easy to find haha! Dox 23 Posted February 4, 2016 Do you have a part number? Have you tried Audi dealers? I think Audi coupe / cabs had similar covers so maybe classic audi specialists (Quattro / coupe etc) may be able to get them? Heating black plastics with a hot air / paint stripper gun restores there colour, warm, not melt

Mystic Blue VR 10 Posted February 4, 2016 Thanks Ian - will contact VW se if hey have them Chuggs, If you come up with anything please let us know. I bought the ones from VW Heritage & whilst they fit they are not correct. Too shallow & very fiddly to fit & remove.

Chuggs1 10 Posted February 4, 2016 Im always after the easy route - will see fi I can buy first - maybe I shouldn't have bought a Corrado if I want easy....... that said I love it and its worth it. Will see what comes out of my chat with VW heritage and may have no choice
Jim 2 Posted February 4, 2016 Sure I replied on another thread about this but I rattlecanned my old wheel nut covers with a nice sort of flat black paint and they look fantastic. No real effort required. Just stood them all up on an old sheet and gave them a couple of coats, 15 minutes apart and they look superb and brand new now. Chuggs1 10 Posted February 8, 2016 Good work Chuggs! :thumbleft: OK - looks like they do the correct covers - link below - doesn't let you order qty in the first page but if you go to your cart you can then increase to the number you want I've ordered 25 so I have some spares. We will be keeping them in stock shortly and the part number will be live on our main website within the next few days. I will let you know as soon as it is. If anyone would like to order before then they can by searching the part number in our Classic Parts Search section (867601173)."
