Jay2 0 Posted August 2, 2007 Would be interested to know how you get on with the bars. I was wondering what would fit a C, as after someway of transporting my mountain bike about. Cheers.
was8v 0 Posted January 14, 2008 After selling my previous Corrado I sold the genuine roof bars I had for the same price I bought them - £70ish :( Now I have another C for when its running right I decided to invest in another roofrack for boards and bikes. You can't get the VW bars or Thule footpacks anywhere new and people seem to be holding onto second hand ones. A fruitless search turned up nothing :( I then noticed these automaxi bars like yours on ebay for £68 delivered which are the same as the above but not as good as VW/Thule ones: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0141277762 However I thought I'd do a titles and descriptions search which turned up these advertised as toyota yaris bars for £58 delivered: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0098340580 It would appear that automaxi "supra" roof bars kit "3" fits the corrado, yaris, mazda mx-3, suzuki baleno and mazda 323 which both of those are above. They may just not advertise them as fitting the Corrado as C's are getting on a bit. However being even more of a bvargain hunter (pikey) turned up this for £16 delivered: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0149112682 Which looks to be the Automaxi footpack included with the kits above. Brilliant, I can just use these with the bars which I also use on my Mk2 (just remove the gutter feet)! That last seller also sells bars for £21 delivered so if he will do a deal on postage you could get a complete pair of the automaxi roof bars pictured above for £31.65 delivered. Hope this helps someone!!!!!!!!! :D

A fruitless search turned up nothing Thats what I heard too on this forum..... But in fact its a bit of nonsense. I rushed to buy the first set 094 clips that came up secondhand. Bought them and smugly thought I'd check out just how rare they were...... Called three online suppliers of thule roofracks and all checked their shelves and confirmed they had them in stockat normal RRP! Roofbars and footpacks are off the shelf in halfords. I think there is some scaremongering going on RE the rareness of Thule bits!
Talc 0 Posted February 15, 2008 Hmmm, wondering if the Thule roof bars for 'Yar'IS will fit then... quality will be better on the thule racks right? the Thule bike carriers for the roof look a lot better than the auto-maxi ones....

I was wondering that too. They might just not bother advertising them for Corrados as they are pretty old now and I doubt they sold many in the first place. I guess it needs someone to buy them from halfords or something and take them back if they don't work! The best racks are the original VW ones though, I had one for my last C - aero bars and a perfect lockable fit. TBH my footpack has arrived and they seem pretty good quality. GivemeaVR 0 Posted March 4, 2008 Are the original roof bars worth anything? I have a set in the garage at home that i am never going to use.
coolrado 0 Posted March 4, 2008 I have seen the original vw roof bars sell for over 100quid on ebay, i was looking for some recently but went for a set of mont blanc roof bars instead as i prefer the way they mount to the car, i also have two sets of thule bars that i won for peanuts on ebay at the same time and all they need is the small clamps that are specific to the corrado and audi coupe.
