Bojmobile 0 Posted December 1, 2007 While we're on the subject - what is the best leather cleaner and conditioner to use? I've always used the autoglym cream on my black stuff - but see the Gliptone cleaner and conditioner quite cheap on Ebay. What do you cream guys use?
tonedef 9 Posted December 1, 2007 I use autoglym although only for the last couple of years, just kept planning to do it the four years before that!
Goldie 2 Posted December 1, 2007 Gliptone all the way...
tonedef 9 Posted December 1, 2007 Gliptone all the way... Guess I'd best be swapping to Gliptone then if you use it Michael
Goldie 2 Posted December 1, 2007 I used to use the Autoglym stuff and then tried the gliptone and it is loads better, the conditioner smells of leather whereas the AG stuff doesnt smell to crash hot.. I definitely recommend it..

Goldie 2 Posted December 1, 2007 I hope you get this sorted mate or i reckon you might have to make a trip to the trimmers, via the bank.. Not good at all...
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 1, 2007 He'll be taking a trip if I don't get what I was promised. Specifically talked about the centre tunnel and loom with him too. Maybe it's just a mix up - but it's useless to me with only 1 front doorcard. Carpet looks almost black too - it's totally bogging. Need to get it shampoo'd. Really annoyed as planned to get it all fitted this weekend and Nick (enbee23) is waiting for my black leather.
diamondblack 0 Posted December 1, 2007 That's gutting if you were expecting the full set. I might be missing something but in that list you posted, it says: 'Full VW Corrado VR6 (Storm) Cream Leather Interior in Very Good Condition Front & rear seats (front seats heated) Rear quarter panels Handbrake trim / gear selecter trim Centre console trims Cream roof lining / sun visors Sunroof controls Cream Carpet A,B,C pillow trims Parcel Shelf' I can't see any mention of doorcards. Was that the list he sent you? Maybe it's just a communication prob. Still, 'full' means full, doesn't it. If not full it should have said 'part'. Maybe in future for very high value sales, nearby members could do a 'check' on the goods as is already done for car sales.
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Handbrake trim / gear selecter trim Centre console trims Cream roof lining / sun visors Well of the above I only have the cream roof lining. I did talk to him on the phone and he assured me it was EVERYTHING that made a cream leather interior.
diamondblack 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Well, in that case, 'everything' means everything (just as 'full' means full). And it is odd that he sent ONE doorcard. You'd think that if his arguement will be that he never said there were any doorcards, then why send one? Although, using a third party to collect does leave you vulnerable to the old 'well the bits were all there when they picked them up' line.
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 1, 2007 I know I'm really worried about that. Checking of high value goods seems like a great idea.
diamondblack 0 Posted December 1, 2007 It is an odd one, though, isn't it. Because if someone was going to nick some of it in transit, why only take one doorcard (and a few bits)? Which carrier did you use, by the way? (And, for future reference, which Ebay seller was it?)
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Courier was Steve Giles Specialist UK Couriers who were very reasonable. Was funny as after we'd unpacked everything - I said " is there...." and driver replied "no there's only one doorcard - we thought that was strange." So he phoned the other driver who picked up the interior and he told him that was everything they'd been given. Couriers had my number - wish they'd phoned and mentioned there was only one doorcard - then I coulda told them to postpone delivery until I talked to the seller. I'm not gonna give sellers Ebay name until I'm sure it's not just a mix-up.
diamondblack 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Well, that bolsters your case that it was incomplete when they picked it up. Try and get both the drivers to put that in writing as soon as possible. Even if it is just confirmation by email. If you leave it too long they might have done too many new deliveries for them to say they remember, but if you get them to confirm it now... Then you can use that as ammunition to back your case against the seller, should you need it.
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 1, 2007 Good idea. I'll contact them tomorrow if the seller does not respond. Cant understand why anyone would do this on purpose though?
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 2, 2007 Got in touch with the guy today and he said that the interior was at his mates garage and his mate was suppose to check everything was loaded onto the van - there is one load of stuff he missed - including centre tunnel, doorcard etc - he's sending it up ASAP. So here's hoping it arrives soon - will give me a few days to clean all the bits and leather before I fit it. Any ideas on how to clean the full carpet? It's pretty bogging and want it cleaned before I fit it. Cheers
Jim Bowen 1 Posted December 3, 2007 As far as leather care products go, i'm told alot are gimmicks and these so called conditioners do nothing but sit on top of the leather for a few days, car leather is protected/sealed so your just adding stuff on top. vwdeviant 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Any ideas on how to clean the full carpet? It's pretty bogging and want it cleaned before I fit it. Cheers Can you get hold of a VAX or if not rent a small carpet shampoo machine... you'll be amazed at what crap comes out! Just make sure you dry it between shampooings.. Used that on an old Golf Cab's carpets and the went from Black to Navy! Was quite surprised!
Bojmobile 0 Posted December 3, 2007 Cool - that's what I'll do then. Cheers
