B5VWC 0 Posted November 14, 2003 Hello I am new to this forum but just like to say hi and so far i have gained a lot of useful info from this site so far as i am looking for a Corrado VR6. The reason for the topic is that i have a Golf MK3 GTi 16v which has Koni Coilovers and 17inch Alloys I noticed on Koni's website that Koni Coilover part 1150-5002-1 for the Golf 3 16v/vr6 is also the same for the Corrado vr6 so would this be a possible swap or would there be a difference The 17inch Alloys are 5stud same as Corrado VR6(i think) but i guess the offset would be different in this case or not? If you guys have any ideas or advice let me know. Thanks.
vr6storm 0 Posted November 14, 2003 your KONI's will swap right over.........as my KONI's are also applicable to both MK3 16v GTi and VR6's and as for offset can't remember off-hand  but its either ET 38 or
Ess Three 0 Posted November 15, 2003 Hello I noticed on Koni's website that Koni Coilover part 1150-5002-1 for the Golf 3 16v/vr6 is also the same for the Corrado vr6 so would this be a possible swap or would there be a difference Straight swap...as roddy says. You'll find the front dampers a bit softer on the Corrado VR6 as it has the extra weight to make them a little less harsh...I have the Koni kit on my 16v Mk34 and although they are good, you can tell that they would probably be a little softer on a VR6 engined car. The 17inch Alloys are 5stud same as Corrado VR6(i think) but i guess the offset would be different in this case or not? They'll be fine if they are anywhere between ET43 and 35. I used to run 7 1/2 x 17 ET35 on my last Golf....currently run 7" x 16 ET 43...both will fit a Corrado well, and due to the larger arches of the Corrado, should provide no rubbing issues.
