coullstar 0 Posted May 14, 2008 Going to look at a VR tomorrow night and I managed to get in touch with a previous owner. He had heard from someone else that has seen the car that there is water getting into th boot. Im trying to think of ways for this to happen and the only thing I can think of is the seal round the tailgate. Does anyone know of another potnetial area? Apparently the sunroof is leaking as well (doesnt work either), can the seals be replaced?
Critical_Mass 10 Posted May 14, 2008 Rear window seal and boot seals. Not sure about replacing seals around sunroof, cant see why not.
shawshankkid 1 Posted May 14, 2008 I'll lay odds it's the corrado script badge letting water in.......Go into the boot through the back seat when it's raining with a torch......it will be the script badge.
nemesis360 0 Posted May 14, 2008 The sunroof seals are designed to let water through, it then drains into the sunroof channels and down pipes in the A and C posts and back out of the car...you might find the sunroof channels are broken at the end where the pipes join..Had this problem with mine, and it used to fill the boot with water. Drop the head lining down then pour water on the roof and watch for leaks Hope this helps
coullstar 0 Posted May 14, 2008 Cheers guys, it has corrosion around the Corrado script so it sounds like thats where it coming from. I was going to get the tailgate resprayed and remove that badge anyway so that sounds good.
Walesy 0 Posted May 14, 2008 Have a really good look around the rear end, if there's signs of rust it could well have had a bump.
cdem 0 Posted May 14, 2008 Could be that the pipe that takes the water to the rear washer jet has come loose at a join...happened with me, just pulled back the carpet and sorted it, no problems since :)

g60karmann 0 Posted May 15, 2008 when you go to view the car pour a decent amount of water over the rear window, wait a little bit for it to run off then open the tailgate. If water comes out of the lock / catch then it will either be the wiper gromit or can be the license plate surround and the key hole gromit (which always goes). coolrado 0 Posted May 15, 2008 I wouldnt really complain too much about water in your boot, bikini clad babes will find it irresistable 8)
twofourten 0 Posted January 14, 2009 I don't have water in the boot, but do have a rear end that fogs up double time. I noticed that the boot seal is a bit worse for wear - can you buy these parts i.e. new rubbers somewhere?
