Kevin Bacon 5 Posted August 6, 2008 Whats the difference on Eurospec between short and long block? That's what she said last night  Long and short block is yank terminology for with or without a cyl head
vwdeviant 0 Posted August 6, 2008 Or talk nicely to some of the companies that regularly ship Classic cars over in containers and see if you can "hoike" some space for a reasonable fee. As Haywayne said takes a good month but cheap! Mate shipped two cars from Cali in a container for just over £800
ardandy 0 Posted August 6, 2008 Just spoke to VEGE and for a 2.9 VR6 with head it's £1710 inc VAT.

Leonard 0 Posted August 6, 2008 So....Leonard :norty: LOL I would love to sort a group buy but I might struggle to get 10 engines through the net cheap :D Lot easier for one to be slipped into someone elses consignment

Supercharged 2 Posted August 6, 2008 Bugger me, it's almost worth doing that instead of bothering with chains and a head rebuild... Yup, I know which way I'd go if I had a VR at anywhere over 100k miles and it wouldn't involve rebuilding... I've never heard of any problems at all with VEGE or VAG exchange engines which is more than can be said for just about every other engine builder / shop i've heard of... andy 0 Posted August 7, 2008 If you can save a grand by going for a 2.8 over a 2.9 from VW, I know where my money would be going. The 2.9 is pointless anyway. A grand extra for .1 of a litre. Think what you could spend that extra money on......
ardandy 0 Posted August 7, 2008 The 2.8 from VW was £2300 but not inc the head!
andy 0 Posted August 7, 2008 The 2.8 from VW was £2300 but not inc the head! Aha I misread that bit. Hmm that puts a different slant on it :-)
Critical_Mass 10 Posted August 7, 2008 The 2.8 from VW was £2300 but not inc the head! Aha I misread that bit. Hmm that puts a different slant on it :-) forget VW, go to VEGE. Saying that, VEGE do only have limited supply. They only had 2 when i ordered mine and the other one was already sold. So a group buy IF you were serious, i wouldnt be sure it was possible due to supply.
