-Neil- 0 Posted August 19, 2008 I need a new air filter, i have a crappy K&N on now, i want a new one, i have a Straight through SS miltek exhaust with de-cat. should i bother with a new k&n or a standard airbox and pannel filter, or should i get one of these bcm, bmc or whatever they are carbon ones that go down behind the bumper where the carbon canaster is?? What would be best for the running of the car?
Jim 2 Posted August 19, 2008 BMC CDA is a generally well regarded option for the VR6! Ultimately the best design for the car though is the stock airbox and filter - VW knew what they were doing when they designed it!
-Neil- 0 Posted August 19, 2008 yeah i know, ive just noticed the definative 'what air filter' thread, silly me for not looking! and ive seen the BMC CDA one, ive found it on venom motor sport.. VW Corrado 2.8 VR6 BMC CDA Enclosed Intake £147.22 (inc. VAT) But ive been thinking, with my exhaust, would i be better with this, or the stock factory one? Philuk 0 Posted August 20, 2008 BMC does seem to make a slightly better throttle response BUT that might be just me kicking it to get the cool sound it gives off :D
flusted 0 Posted August 20, 2008 VW prob new what they were doing when noise was concerned but not performance
-Neil- 0 Posted August 20, 2008 cool think ill get a bmc one then, anybody know if i have to buy the cone bit seperately or does it come with one? and when i remove the carbon canaster, what do i do with the pipes? and wheres the best place to get my bmc cda from? Leonard 0 Posted August 20, 2008 I have BMC and K&N panel in std box. I would say BMC gives slightly more power top end K&N more power/torque lower down Overall though I would say the panel filter is the better option, but the BMC just sounds too good! LOL Also if you do go BMC dont bother with cold air feed. I had the headlamp out of mine to test it and it made no difference at all. Matt
Jim Bowen 1 Posted August 20, 2008 -paper filters, filter best -foam and cotton allow more air through, but not as good at filtering
-Neil- 0 Posted August 20, 2008 well im going to get a standard vr6 air box and put that on, try and make the air filtered a bit more and cleaner for the engine. what pannel filter am i best off getting?
Supercharged 2 Posted August 20, 2008 On a G60 standard only... BMC CDA on a VR Replacement panel on the 16V - not K&N tho as the fit is awful!
