daves16v 1 Posted July 22, 2010 I've had some clutch judder since I've had the car and I'm putting it down to engine mounts. Is there a specific mount that would cause this or is it a combination of worn mounts? Thanks Dave

daves16v 1 Posted July 22, 2010 I say engine mount as I'm also getting a jerk/thud when I lift off the gas. Any idea how much a VAG gearbox mount is and is it easy to change? Thanks for your help chaps.

Thanks for your help chaps. IIRC it's about £60 for a gearbox mount new from VAG, not cheap considering you can get a Febi/Bilstein one from vwspares for ~£20. Don't get a GSF one though whatever you do, that's what I got before and it's foobarred in less than a year! Not a massive job to do, just a bit of a ball ache. You need to loosen the GB mount and the front engine mount and then jack the engine up enough to be able to slide the GB mount out of the subframe. I find it's more easily accessible from the passenger arch (with the wheel off obviously).

daves16v 1 Posted July 22, 2010 Ok thanks guys, I'll go order one :) Edit - just called VW - £79 inc vat Edit again - that price was for the offside, GB mount is £54.50 inc vat so I've ordered it from TPS, collect Sat morning ready for the weekend.
