As above, does anyone know if possible to get geniune vw part anywhere? germany? any leads most grateful.

audi, volvo, porsche, saab, they're used on lots of cars, they pop up second hand on e-bay and you can also get pattern parts with screw top rather than spade connectors, these can be bought from various car part suppliers, the main thing is to make sure you have the pressure ratings for the two connectors, i.e. 1.3 or 0.3 (ish) bar for the warning and 0-5 or 0-10 bar for the variable/gauge output, that way you'll be able to find a similar part if not the original VW one.

Hi anyone got the loom and sensor 535 919 561 B its for VDO gauge cluster the OE optional one from factory.

 

I have managed to buy the volt and oil VDo cluster part number 536 919 527 and now need to source a loom and sender 0-10 bar.

 

Switch im sourcing is part number 535 919 561 B number 21 on diagram. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

 

Can get one from classics but a absolute rip off.

Loom is something you will need to make yourself - you can buy the plug from VW, and it's also used one some of the other dash switched , heated seats I think, so you could cannibalise one. VW sell wire repair sets with the pins already on for fitting to a new connector.

 

The sender is just a standard VDO one, lots of sources, depends if you want a single pole or dual pole, all you need to do is make sure the thread size (M10 I think) and the pressure ratings are identical.

Ok managed to but an aftermarket sensor https://www.mister-auto.co.uk/sender-unit-oil-pressure/fae/14120/.

 

Would of purchased OE but was a whopping £144.00 from classics, the FAE aftermarket one was £28.00 . it was the last one available I could find anywhere so feel quite lucky to be honest !

 

Sound, at least you have one - was going to say you can buy direct from VDO or one of the tuning/performance shops. They do fail - I've had to replace one after five years as it stopped reading.

Ill pm you mate what I had to pay, would not say it was good value but at the end of the day a nice bit of kit none the less .

 

On the part diagram it signals a single pin as it has the VDO gauges part number next to it so maybe that one will last longer then the 2 pin set up god knows.

 

Have you got a part number for the plug Fen ?

I'll see if I can find it - only problem you will have is that if it's a single pin you will need a T-piece as it needs to c0exist with the original pressure warning sensor - I think ARZ still sell them.

 

I'll let you know if I find the part numbers - I should have all that somewhere, but it was nearly 10 years ago!

 

I guess for a part like that you'll pay whatever you're prepared to pay in order to have it - that's how capitalism works! socialism would mean no Corrado - but you could have had one of these:

To be honest Fen ill pass it over to Vince at some point with, VDO unit , 1 pin sensor and the plug if I can source one.

 

Maybe the single pin will work out an easier install hopefully as it is the designated part number attached to the VDO gauges(1pin)

They're real easy to install, I did 3 individual gauges in my MK2 Golf.

 

All 3 need a fused power supply - just loop gauge to gauge.

 

All 3 need a ground wire, just loop gauge to gauge.

 

That's the Volt meter complete.

 

The temp gauge needs a single wire to the sender, I fitted mine to the sump, drilled and tapped sump plugs are available (you need 10mm X 1mm threads for both senders).

 

The pressure gauge also needs a single wire to its sender, the sender usually replaces an existing sender and has 2 connections, one for the dash, another for the gauge.

 

If space is an issue for the bulkier gauge sender you can buy Y pieces or extension pieces for the 10 x 1 senders from the likes of Europa, Merlin motorsports, Demontweeks etc

I have spoke to Vince and although the 1 pin is the correct method in regards to the part diagram he always fits them with the 2 pin for ease of fitting. Also I was not paying £144 for a OE 1 pin sensor and after mentioning I had purchased a FAE Vince said junk so I have just got that refunded.

 

So if anyone can help.

What I know so far

 

Needs to be 0- 10 bar

Thread needs to be M10x1

I want it to be a VDO sender or Vag

What I need to find out.

 

Part number for plug that fits in the back of VDO pod, have heard it is the same for a late sunroof plug loom ?

 

What is the low pressures warning(buzzer) PSI on a VR6 as they have different psi ones for these senders.

 

It would be great if someone had a part number that fitted the correct above ???

Ok thanks Dox this would be the text book method of fitting as in regards to the OE diagram with use of a 1 pin sender. However Im not forking out £144 for a bloomin sender it is outrageous. Have been refunded for the substandard FAE sender. Going down the two pin route. Thanks.

Thanks Dox that looks extremely hopeful and a good quality brand, may I ask do you know the correct psi/bar for the low warning in a VR6. it mentions this on the description. (Warning light operates at a higher psi than a standard switch)

From memory I tried to use the second output from one of these to the oil warning light on the dashboard and got a low pressure warning and loud beeeeeeep sound.I used a T-piece to retain the original sensor for the dashboard oil pressure.

There is also another VDO part number knocking about with a lower warning pressure I think.

Plug that goes in the rear of guage is 1J0972704

000979133E is the wire set. You need 4 wires, but you can get away with 2 as they have connectors both ends.

 

I used a duel pole sender V360023. Need to take headlight out to fit.

 

Wiring if you want volt meter on permantly take the voltage wire to battery... otherwise link off light in glovebox.

 

Illumination takes off cig lighter.

 

Negative to ground of car.

 

Pressure wire to sender... simple installation.

I also bought. 5 metres of general electrical wire. For the sender to guage.. some ring connectors for sender...

 

I also used scotch locks to pick power and illumination up.. not the best connectors but they work.

 

Other than that a few tie wraps and you should be sorted...
