24V Renshaw 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Hi all, I am after a rear beam to refurb in preparation for my MOT. Looking on ETKA the actual beam on all Corrados is the same. So what have you got? And where are you? Cheers Jay
StueyB 0 Posted February 20, 2012 As mentioned before Jay, will have one off an 8v next weekend. As complete or stripped as required. Located in Bedfordshire.
24V Renshaw 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Hmmmm, Bedfordshire is a bit far as I can't see me coming down there soon....
StueyB 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Did wonder, as I checked out location of Wilmslow. Let me know if anything changes and it'll be a week or so before it'll be off the car.
24V Renshaw 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Weird question but could you find a part number on it do you think?
dragon green 5 Posted February 20, 2012 Have a read of this thread that's running on Vortex at the moment http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?t=5591249
24V Renshaw 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Confirms what I have found. The basic metal beam is the same on any of the higher spec cars e.g Mk2 GTi etc.. Which have the ARB. The parts that are different I will be stripping off and swapping over anyway. So has anyone got one whatever car it's off?
daves16v 1 Posted February 20, 2012 Jay, VR rear beams are wider, I know I've measured a stripped VR and a stripped 16v beam.
24V Renshaw 0 Posted February 20, 2012 So why is the metal part the same part number then? Weird.... Jay
fla 9 Posted February 20, 2012 if you're really stuck i've got a VR beam here - but I'm in London i'm afraid
24V Renshaw 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Damn it, why is no one up North breaking a VR!! Cheers mate. Jay
StueyB 0 Posted February 20, 2012 I'll have a good poke around come weekend and find a part number. Also got a VR6 sitting right next to it so will ask the owner if we can jack it up and get the definitive answer. I had my suspicions that all Mk2 based platforms had the same axle but we shall see. StueyB 0 Posted February 20, 2012 Oh and I think the answer is: Because all Corrado's are either on the south coast, central London or Scotland. FACT. ;)

Anton Sobriquet 0 Posted February 26, 2012 I have both a Corrado VR6 and a Mk3 GTi 16V rear beam next to each other in my garage - exactly the same width. Both for sale but I'm even further away in Cambridge.
