MattPc 0 Posted December 4, 2013 I've done two Timing chains now, always purchased OEM parts from VW dealer in Chelmsford. heres a link to the list of parts that I purchased with a screen shot from ETKA. From another topic a few years ago on timing chains: The original VW chain parts break up and fall into the sump, so not really a good advert for VAG longevity :D Loads of people use Febi chain parts, including Schimmel and Stealth and I've never heard of a failure. My genuine chain "kit" has been in about 6k miles and I noticed yesterday when I took the top cover off that the middle bolt hole had broken off, and the guide had snapped in two.
