chorlton 10 Posted April 9, 2014 Hi Folks Just raced my 25yr old Corrado at the weekend at Knockhill finishing 3rd & 2nd in class. I bought her as a pre built racer but have already made a few changes inc major switched mapping options. She's far from as she left the motherland but still has the same blood line - 20v turbo unit & box. She's 290bhp at the wheels & bats well above her age & looks & will be out for the rest of the season against the far easts finest 4wd junk & a bloomin quick M3 that she (or me) couldn't get the better of at the 1st Rd. paddy26 3 Posted April 9, 2014 Congrats. The car looks very well and obviously drives/handles even better. You'll have to post a list of mods. \Paddy

chorlton 10 Posted April 26, 2014 Mods are mild really, bigger turbo, manifold, rods, intercooler, intake, gaz coilovers, ap brakes & exhaust but enough for 58s lap times dry & 1.03 in monsoons.

coullstar 0 Posted April 27, 2014 So you bought this from Gingernuts? Nice car, need to get down sometime to watch. Is Ali racing his Mk1 Golf again?
chorlton 10 Posted April 27, 2014 So you bought this from Gingernuts? Nice car, need to get down sometime to watch. Is Ali racing his Mk1 Golf again? I did indeed my friend. He's racing a ginetta G50 this year. Were in the same races (different classes) & mark Dawson will be out in his new & seriously improved (jabba sport 20vT conversion) corrado with us at the next round nex weekend. Is/was Ali on here? Ive a ticket or 2 for next weekend if you/anyone want, just shout out. Cheers Chris
coullstar 0 Posted April 27, 2014 I kind of know Ali through a local VW site. Didnt realise he had given up on his Mk1, that was mint.

chorlton 10 Posted April 27, 2014 AFAIK the Mk 1 guts became my corrado.. He got my RS6 in exchange but I believe it blew its G/box afterwards.. What I really need now is some doors, front wings, a bonnet & a rear bumpers so I can prepare for toe-2-toe without fear of being knocked out come race 2 or at the next meeting. Anyone got anything, ideally in white but anything straight can be painted tbh Chris

Running a 1.8T, he wouldnt break that car as he put so much work into it. Edited April 28, 2014 by coullstar
Brunty 10 Posted April 28, 2014 Race 1 Race 2 Typical Knockhill weather! Some great racing there, loved the pass down Duffus into McIntyre.
Jim 2 Posted April 28, 2014 Awesome! Really nice to see a Corrado being used on track and punching well above its weight! Will check those track videos out when I get home :)
chorlton 10 Posted April 28, 2014 Yes, we're mixing our Ali's. Ali Robertson (gingernuts) built the corrado from a mk1 golf his father had. Ali mowatt I'm aware of but he wasn't out at rd1. Vids are filed off rv so quality I'd poor but enough to get an idea. I screws up in race 1 by leaving it on the wet map & the track had dried a fair bit, duh! Duck 10 Posted May 5, 2014 Spotted this on Motor's coverage of Knockhill the other week. I know your series sometimes races with Northern Saloons (a mate has ran in for a few years) any plans on coming down to Croft with them? Mark
chorlton 10 Posted May 5, 2014 (edited) Hey Mark Normally they do but this year its Oulton on the 31st of this month instead. Just finished Rd2 & dunno how much will be on M&M but it was a fantastic round. Fog meant no Quali so we started by championship table = Race 1 I start in 5th & 600bhp noble m400, 700bhp evo & 960bhp focus (yes 960 4x4 wrc car) behind !! 1st turn I'm 4th end of lap 7th, end of lap 2 im 8th as the above fly by but keeping up with 500bhp impretza then stoopid £5 gear linkage snaps so race over for me, arrghh. Race 2 I start alongside my fellow 20vT corrado friend at the back due to Race 1 DNF, another grat start & I pas 1 car per lap for the next 9 laps until I'm 9th & 3rd in class then spin on last lap whilst 6s ahead due to camber bolts going wonky & turning -3.5 into +4 at the front, arrgghh! managed to recover & finish 13th.
