Phil K 0 Posted June 4, 2004 I'd rather not think about how much my C (read - money pit) has cost me since I've owned it... most of this has been spent on trying to keep it on the road! My last bill was for £903 just to get it running properly. Money well spent? Hell no, 600 miles and it's f'ked again - going back to the garage on monday! If it hadn't cost me so much already this year I'd be ready to cut my loses and sell/scrap it :(
B5VWC 0 Posted June 4, 2004 Since i bought back in november 2003 i would say about close to £3k Tailights, Spoilers, Paintwork, Exhaust, ICE & Recaro Electric Heated Black Leather Major cost was a full service including new clutch / ebc dics&pads + fluid change But did save on Koni Coilovers & 17inch wheels taken from my Golf mk3 - just needed laser wheel alignment to setup right

Henny 0 Posted June 4, 2004 yup... 8) every damn penny I've spent on my C was made all worth while last weekend when the sun came out and I went on a blast around the Buxton hills... 8) :D Just gotta get the paint and the chip done, and then it'll just be repairs to keep on top of cost wise... 8) (yeah, Like I'm ever gonna stop modding her... ;) :| )
Joe M 0 Posted June 4, 2004 Including buying the car and insurance ive spent near enough £13'500  Ive only had it just over a year.... Sounds like a lot but not if you think of what some people spend to get something like a brand new focus, in fact id say its a bargain. :-P
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 4, 2004 My car owes me about £10K inc buying it...... there's not really much else about for that sum of money that offers the same blend of looks, performance, handling and exclusivity. I was nosing round some bird at work's 350Z today.....very, very nice indeed, but it's no Corrado
cheesy 0 Posted June 4, 2004 I've spent far to much, but i still have a few bits to finish. Probably talking around the £15k mark Plus   I didn't include buying mine Expensive 16valver
vr6storm 0 Posted June 4, 2004 ok here's mine purchase price(august 2001)-£10855 servicing/repairs/consumables-approx £1500 modifications-approx £3000 cosmetics-approx £600 so roughly inc purchase price approx £16k!!!!  ......
dinkus 10 Posted June 5, 2004 Well look at it like this, if you get a new car you lose money on depreciation, if you have an older car you spend the money on parts. It costs you the same either way, so hey stick with the C :)

dinkus 10 Posted July 6, 2004 Well in my first week of ownership I've bought... Brake disks all round Pads all round Front top mounts Rear bump stops Rear shocks Rear top spring plates Rear ABS cages Rear wheel bearings Rear axle bushes VR6 grille badge Serpentine belt 2x Lupo wiper arms Coolant sensor Oil temp sensor Breather valve Totalling £500 and something. I also need... New rubber all round (£290 for 5 RE-720's) Serpentine belt tensioner And that's just parts... most of it is getting fitted by me and my mate, but some of it (rear axle bushes, tyres) need to be done by a garage. So yay :D But hey, it'll handle like a dream after all this work :) Edit: Oh and money comes from my well paying job playing with cars :D

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted July 6, 2004 I also need... New rubber all round (£290 for 5 RE-720's) Good man, that's what I like to see. You've found the best tyres for a VR, by miles 8) Serpentine belt tensioner I've got a new bearing you can have, so you can rebuild your tensioner pulley, otherwise you'll have to buy the whole assembly from VW.
