I thought 17k was pretty optimistic, but maybe there would be someone that came along eventually and offered a few grand under. This though is just insane. I genuinely cannot see anyone paying anywhere near this, even if it is one of the top 3 in the country. Mental!!!!

I honestly can't see anyone paying 25k! If someone buys it and uses it then the value will only go down.

 

I asked these when I sold the car and they would only offer 8k......

That is ****ing laughable. Not because I don't think it's one of the best Corrado's in the country, but because of the just shameless attempts to profiteer off backs and hard work of other people with **** all effort. It sickens me to my stomach.

So sad to see a car that was un restored and owned by a guy who gave alot to the corrado forum now to have four more owners each time making massive money on his work and eventually his connection with the car will be lost.. it does sum up the whole vw scene at the moment and will only drive true enthusiasts away.

Exactly the same thing has happened with MK1 & MK2 Escorts. My old RS2000, which was very original with a sensible amount of owners, changed hands recently for 25K plus. No where near that when I had it. Since then the car has changed hands many times (in excess of 20 owners now I reckon) & each time it was sold the price went up. As good, original Corrado's become difficult to find the price is only going one way. Supply & demand I'm afraid.

Precisely what upsets me about the whole situation. No grievence with ChrisL who acquired it after it left Chris Gaskell's estate - fully understand his reasons for selling up, but it's changed hands 3 times since he sold it now mere months ago, each time clearly people driven by nothing more than greed / profit. It's infuriating.

I believe we undervalue our cars. We are very good at assessing the wrecks for a couple of grand, but then undervalue original cars or those that have been restored to excellent condition, often with over £10,000 spent.

 

The prices of many other classic cars have risen recently, for example a decent MGB is now nearly £10k and a V8 version is in excess of £20k.

The one for 10k on pistonheads i went for, after thinking for too long about it(as in too good to be true), and it had just gone the old guy told me. Gutted, it was £2500 in the add.

Me too consider my orig purchase was nearly 20k in 1995
