That pump looks better than new, you must know a great player or sorting where to get those small parts from is amazing. All very impressive work. Calipers in an Oe look are definitely the way forward.

Exceptional work as always  👍

That all looks amazing. Are you going to paint the bare nuts and bolts to stop them from rusting. That's the annoying part that you pay good money, make something amazing and the bloody thing goes rusty 🤬

May be not in your nice garage though 👍

They come with whatever protection comes on the bolts and they are all genuine VW ones. To be fair, it won’t see any road salt so should stay ok.

my imported R36 is like new underneath and that’s 14 years old.

Lanoguard is pretty good as a clear covering or ACF 50

Import is good way to go too. Also saves on expensive road tax on say a mk5 r32 or I bet R36 if they were available in the UK - c£200 per year vs c£700 for UK registered cars.

Corrado is looking lovely Chris. Just looking back at brakelines, did you make those or buy in? I've messaged a guy on here but not if still active. I can do it but I don't think i have the eye to make them as perfect as yours.

My R36 has Lanoguard on it. Don’t want anything that is sticky and attracts dirt to stick to it.

the guy on here did some brake pipes but then was too busy to make anymore so found someone on eBay that did them for me. I sent him the genuine green pipe, genuine unions and the pipes I wanted making for a template. Didn’t charge much and the quality is as good as the guy on here.

Hi,

You are getting on well, will be very satisfying for you when you have it back on the road.

I have a question, your ABS to Master Cylinder feed  pipes look New are they, or were they in that good a condition to start ?.

Thanks, I actually just cleaned them, had them plated, I then matched the colour and sprayed them.

one of the pipes is still available from classic parts.

Ah,

Many thanks for responding so quickly, so I home electroplated just the end fittings on mine , having taped up the main pipes and hose ends, all looked great at first but about 6 months later got corrosion spreading out from the small holes in the tube end fittings, some of the electrolyte must have been trapped and started leaching out.

I started doing the plating myself (done majority of bolts , nuts, brackets etc) really only because I could not find any electroplaters within a 50 mile radius of Brackley that would bother to answer my voice mails, or online contact requests...perhaps I should have just knocked on their door, less easy to ignore me!

Who does yours ?

Many thanks, maybe I should try again , but plate the whole tubes with no taping so less chance of the problem.

I live in Hull and there is a place nearby that does it. This however was done by derby plating. They did my clutch line and fan case too

Chris,

Many thanks for taking time out to post the pics and for the info, I have re-plated/ passivated the offending end fittings today, need to paint, the main pipes again, the olive green spray I used was rubbish, came off to easily, need to find the right colour and type of paint, but hopefully will get there, just another thousand things to do along the way with my G60.

Have spent Far too much of my time, on this project, any sane person would have taken another direction a long time ago !

Hopefully will be on the road next year ?

Cheers.

🤣🤣 I know what you mean. I etch primed the plated pipes then used some spray I had made at a local automotive paint supplies. I’ll try and find the colour for you. I matched the colour with my new brake pipes.

ABS pump looks nice. Who did you get to refurbish it, or did you do it yourself?

I had mine refurbished, but was a bit disappointed they didn't tidy up the outside!

It was checked at BBA Remanufacturing and they say it’s working fine.

I then stripped it and cleaned it etc. myself.

Yes Royal Steering Wheels. I’m waiting for them to tell me if they can do a gearknob, they didn’t want to do mine as they said it was too good to risk. I have a spare one with the leather removed to send them.
