Flat Spots!

Recommended Posts

Sometimes when i begin a journey in my C the car seems to not want to go! my foot is flat to the floor and it revs ok but the MPH goes up very slowly and then all of a sudden will shoot into life as if someone has hit into the back of me!! but when i stop and start the car its fine??

Any Ideas what it can be?? :? :?

have to clarify a little, are you saying the revs are rising and the car ain't going anywhere?! is this immediately after starting up? at start up is engine lumpy?

or the usual plugs-leads+-coilpack scenario

I'm suffering from a similar problem and had the Stealers mechanic come out on a drive with me- he was adamant that it was my ignition leads and so Ive ordered a set of Blue igniters from C&R

i always thought if the revs go up n its not moving with them that its the clutch slipping?

The revs are rising as they should but the MPH is going up very slowly! but after a while its fine! it only happens every now and then! but when it does it makes the car really sloppy and the MPG reading is something like 17 on the clocks!!!

as you are in llay have you thought about taking it to john roberts garage (just down the road from trefn) they are vw specialists and would be able to tell exactly what the problem is and tune it for you i dont think they are too expensive either and quite a cheap place to get vag parts, i could have a look at it for you but i might not be able to find the exact problem just a general idea of wheater its running too rich
