1. The beast.....
2. My mechanic works for Toyota so I told him all about it. My only regret is that it was dark and the guy in front (Toyota pun)probably couldn't see it was a 23 year old car that was giving him a hard time. I think a Porsche would have battered my valver as it's not that quick off the line. I'd race one with the BMW I bought myself for Xmas though as that's got a 0-60 time of 2.6 seconds. :)
3. Firstly the Yang:- On my commute home I met a Toyota GT 86 that pulled across a crossroads in front of me and I turned left behind it. The road in question is what I refer to as the rally section (see image) and is a tree lined country road with some sharp bends. The Toyota wanted to play and couldn't loose the trusty valver despite his best efforts. It was great to see the Toyota get out of shape, loosing the back end several times, whilst the Corrado held it's composure and gripped for England (well probably for Germany). I was grinning like a Cheshire cat when I got home after being reminded why I love this car. Then the Yin:- Took the old girl to my mechanic for her 3000 mile oil/filter change and for him to have a mooch round the cooling system to hopefully find the source of my slight coolant drop. All goes well, oil is drained, suspect hose/clamps removed and cleaned up, all bolted together and time for fluids. Oil filled, coolant filled, runs car to bleed the system, pumps top hose and bloody top pipe from radiator fractures off. Suppose its better to fracture whilst in the garage, but still frustrating. New radiator going on tonight all being well. Here's hoping I find that Toyota again, but this time him behind to see if he can stick with me. :)
4. Probably the ones I could do with (depending on cost) as my trip odometer has stopped working. Photographs and costs please.
5. At one point my valver had an intermittent issue and was sometimes hunting revs at idle (usually when it warmed up). I kept cleaning the isv but to no avail and my mechanic checked for air leaks by spraying round with something (brake cleaner I think) but still couldn't find any. Finally found the problem when I lent on the 90 degree elbow that sits on top of the metering head and the hunting stopped. Thankfully had one in stock so swapped them over and problem fixed. I presume it wasn't seated right or had a crack in it (none visible).
6. Steve, what mileage have the clocks got on them and do they have the little mfa vacuum thingy on the back.....if so, how much posted? Stuart.
7. Thanks guys. No signs of the pink stains when I did my quick look, but will get it on the ramps soon to have a proper look.
8. Seems I must have a small leak somewhere on the coolant system of the valver and I've had to top up the coolant a couple of times of late. The carpets are dry and windows don't steam up excessively so I'm guessing (and praying) it's not the heater matrix. Under the hood there doesn't seem to be any obvious leaks. So what I'm looking for is some ideas as to where to focus my search efforts. Stuart.
9. Gonna try this if the stuff doesn't smell. Where'd you hide the socks, under the seat?
10. Remember when mine run out of electricity due to an alternator fault. Once the drain of the lights lowered the voltage enough, the ECU wouldn't work and stop it did.
11. The attempt to start the car could have dropped the voltage enough to reset the clock. Bung it on charge for a couple of hours and try again.
12. I'm no expert but the clock back to 0:00 suggests to me a possible battery issue.

Bargain

Wonder if it's £400 with trade discount, lol
14. Bought one of the group buy switches last Thursday and it was with me by Friday - dunno if this is Matt's normal turn round but I was more than happy as I needed it ASAP for the daily. The LED colours are slightly off the normal illumination colours (new switch has a deeper green and a red rather than orange) but still doesn't look out of place. More to the point is it works a treat. Stuart.

Headlight switch died

You my friend is a star.

Headlight switch died

Panic over guys, 8vMatt to the rescue. Cheers fella.
17. Whilst running a bit late this morning my headlight switch decided to fall in bits in the sidelight position. As my commute involves unlit country roads, I had to retrieve my spare from the garage, making me even later. My spare works, but is a bit sticky and I expect it may die soon, therefore need a headlight switch pronto. I've PM'd 8vMatt about the group buy items, but don't know as yet if he keeps stock of them or how quick he could get one to me. So, has anyone got a headlight switch they could post ASAP as I no longer have a spare. Stuart.

Slippery when wet

Tensioner gear, teeth? Not sure what you mean. I recall there being a bolt to tighten to increase belt tension.

Slippery when wet

Thanks, I'll have a look at it but I'm sure it's ok and it only happens when wet.
20. My alternator and power steering v belts don't seem to last very long on my early valver and when its very wet (as it often is) they occasionally suffer from slippage which results in a drop in voltage or on/off power steering, depending on which slips. Before replacing them again, I was wondering if its possible/easy and what's involved to upgrade them to a toothed belt system which I believe is found on later valvers?
21. It is Jefferies. Nice showroom that plies me with coffee.
22. Your mind will truly be blown with the way they accelerate endlessly.
23. Have you messed with the timing at all and have you got the HT leads in the correct order?
24. I might have a go at fitting an LED strip. Does anyone know the voltage of the of the standard bulbs?
