Much as I love my VR6 .. Tesla Model S P85D test drive.
MZpog replied to dr_mat's topic in General Car Chat
Whilst I can't afford a car to give me a kick like that, I never get tired of the bang for buck buzz 2 wheels offers me. My current weekend toy claims to do 60 in 2.6 seconds, but I never ride it like that, honest officer. -
I think I'd take the 50/50 or not pursue the claim. The silver car possibly wasn't in control as they weren't in reverse (or bulbs blown) and were seemingly rolling, but you must have been looking right only to have not seen them.

I converted to mine to a Passat moon roof and love the amount of light it lets in with the shade back.

Do VW have an embargo on talking about the Corrado
MZpog replied to Chuggs1's topic in General Car Chat
Let her know the Corrado owners don't care, lol -
Thanks for the offer but happy it's working fine with the readings I got from my meter.
-
Spare purchased and fitted and under full load (all lights, heated rear screen, heated seats etc) it's showing 13.8 at the battery. The Ebay special cig lighter volt meter was showing 12.8 so it's either kaput or my there's a voltage drop on the cig lighter wiring. Glad I changed it as found the nut that goes on the end of the long securing bolt was missing.

No knowledge of the car, but MOT checker http://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/Default.aspx suggests it's MOT expired 30/11/15, yet it's supposedly been stored - why MOT a stored vehicle?

One of my mates suggested they wanted about £50 to change something on his policy. May have been to put on some private plates. I insured my old MGB with them and had no issues. The NCD didn't used to be offered for Classic, maybe things have changed.
-
Worse thing about classic policies is they don't accrue any NCB. A mate of mine used Flux for years and only fell out with them due to their charges to change anything but if you don't intend on changing anything for a year, then should be fine.

Set of black cloth door cards great condition - £20 collected
MZpog replied to 2sheds's topic in Parts for Sale
There in reasonable condition, but won't be any good for a 94 as early cards differ with holes for window and mirror switches -
This site will show some history for you http://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/

I have a set of early black cards if your interested. -
He's driving a Toyota Auris hybrid thing which possibly could be considered the polar opposite of a VR6

His legacy lives on. I still keep in touch with him and often text him to let him know I'm parked outside his house (when I visit the off licence), just to remind him what a Corrado looks like.

Running denso in mine with no problem following a recommendation from my mechanic.

Checked the voltage at the battery last night (rather than using my Ebay special cig lighter volt meter) and voltage seem fine at 13.8. Also checked at the alternator and got similar voltage. Maybe it's not dying after all. I think I'll buy another anyway to my spare's pile.
-
Cheers. Asked the bloke about RH's for you but nothing at the moment.
-
Whilst a cheap alternator seems to be required, I think the VR6 has a different alternator to those fitted on a 2.0 16V
-
The wiring appears to be all ok Jim. Did you add an earth wire to the alternator or just use one for the feed?
-
About 18 months ago I was my alternator gave up the ghost and caused me to run out of electricity (not good) so a new (refurbished) replacement was bought from ebay. Within a few weeks the refurb unit started dropping it's volts from the normal 13.5 to somewhere in the 12's and if load was added, voltage would drop below 12. Mr ebay seller was advised and he duly sent out a replacement which has been fine, unit now and seems to be starting it's voltage drop so I think another replacement will be bought (anyone got one for a valver kicking about) Anyway it got me thinking what's causing the death of alternators, is it plain bad luck or could my ICE be drawing to much for the poor thing to cope (I doubt it with just one amp)

Thought I'd share my refurbished period wheels (Eta Beta Lucy's). Just need the centre caps to be delivered.

I simply put the handbrake wire to earth but still won't be using it for DVD playing.

Reasonable condition but some kerbing. £200 collected. No tyres but was running 195/50/15's and previously ran 205/50/15 (on the front) with no issues.

Just bought myself some ETA Beta Lucy 4R's for summer. Might have my Schmidt's refurbished by the guy I've got the ETA's from. Will ask if he has any RH's
