I have to say that I'm going for a 3.94, but the only reason for this is that I'm going to be using mine on track, and a 3.6 isn't worth changing to for this reason. I'm looking at changing 5th though, to make it a wee bit longer. I just need to research what 5th gears are available and what is most suitable

I have a set for sale if thats any use Kev - braided hoses, calipers, new pads, and new discs. Have been fitted to a car, but not driven
-
Damn, I was looking for something like that last night :(
-
see new file for the difference in the revs when travelling at the same road speeds
-
Just so I know, does 3000 rpm seem about right for 70mph?????
-
In case it doesnt state, that is with the Golf VR6 box. I'm unsure of the FD ratio in a corrado, I know there was some debate about it being a 3.6 or a 3.3 as the Golf is Just doing the speed calculations at the moment - isnt it great not having a boss in :D
-
I found some links to changing the VR6 gearbox final Drive last night, so sorted out a little table to show the effects of changind the unit to make it a bit lower geared Need to add a little more to see effective speeds, will try and add that later on May be of use to people want to change the FD unit (like me)
-
Cheers for that Kev :) - I guess with the top end wanting to breathe more, the larger volume of the TB helps a little. Something else to add to the list

Matt WAS the first to drop the VR into a MK1 - his car was featured a long while ago in one of the mags. What isnt commonly known is that the car then got converted to a syncro
-
Well Godamn - it took me a couple of months to figure out how to get the 305mm kit onto 5 stud! Has this model actually been released yet?? Need to go and speak to my friendly seat dealer
-
Phatty means for the floorpan But you are right, regular syncro stuff wont cope with G60 power Be up soon Paul, dont you go cutting that one up too
-
Is the enlarged throttle body from AMD worth the money - discuss To fit a 2.9, with cams and a shrick manifold
-
Its going to be a try it and see then - the only problem that I can see is the routing of the pas pipes, ie where I have put them
-
Are you talking about the larger Golf one hitting in a Corrado or a MK2 Paul? Seems like mine never had one at all - Now glad that I kept that fecked 02A in the garage
-
As I was perusing the forum yesterday I came across some information that said that not all of the early VR6 models had the gearbox counterweight Is this true? I have a 92 model engine and box, and I dont appear to have one from memory - would I feel a lot of difference fitting one? Which would be better, the smaller corrado version, or the larger Golf one? Cheers Chris

Some of us have realised that you know what it what with VR's, but by eck it makes me laugh when people on the forums (not this one) take what you say in the wrong way  I shall take the above as permission to copy your tech spec then Phatty  Just dont expect me to afford a 6spd, I cant afford one of those :( I should be able to arrange to come up in the next couple of weeks, will know more towards the end of this week

Underdrive pulleys? What do you mean by this, have you any links to these pulleys please Cheers
-
I thought you knew of Gary as he has mentioned your name to me before regarding 16v tuning to me before He still has the 2L, nothing major in the way of mods - now runs G60 steels, and black hockenheims with slicks for the track. We are off to experience the joys of the nurburgring again this summer, him in his MK2, me in my knew one - fingers crossed that it gets finished
-
You guys seem like a friendly bunch, even Phatty is calmer on here  with a shrek already in place I think the 268's are likely to fill the head Why the waste of money on the head? Curious to know as the Vortex users seem to rate this, though I'm not saying they're right With the 3.94, what sort of rev increase are we talking about at 70 or 80 mph? What about the flywheel? Lightened standard, alloy, if alloy, what weight? Did VW change anything with the spec of the VR lump at all in its life? Is there anything that I should think about changing whilst the lump is out and seperate from the box?

The site is down at the moment, but go onto http://www.gvk-motorsport.co.uk/ (Gary Bocking from CGTI forum) and then somewhere in the vids section there is a video of me in my golf loosing the back end going down the Craner Curves at a Donnington trackday a year or two Basically, a fast part of the circuit, and lost the back end at about 80-90 mph, came close to rolliing it, one side came of the ground a fair way Shit myself, I didnt have time TBH, but it scared the living daylights afterwards for a long time knowing how lucky I was to get off so lightly

Oh the shame in being infamous 8) I have to hold my hands up to that, t'was me

I've been hanging round this forum for a little while now, just picking up bits and pieces of info as I go along. I dont have a corrado, but my mk2 has most of a Corrado in it so will you allow me in here? :?? The car isnt quite finished yet and I have decided to spend a bit of money in uprating a few items whilst I'm at it I have a 'shrek' (Kev haywire, you are so to blame for that name sticking in my head! :) ) its 2.9 early Corrado lump, 92, came out of a LHD of Greek origon now converted to a coil pack instead of dizzy Mileage is about 60k miles, and the chains have already been done - the Corrado doner had a turbo strapped on for a short while and the chains got done when it was taken off What else is recommended? engine and box mounts? cams? Big Valve head? Diff - Peloquin/Quaife? R&P - what difference am I going to see for motorway cruising? I realise what the overall effect is A 6spd I cant afford :( , so dont mention that please Phatty Flywheel? Cheers in advance people, just want to know opinions and thoughts on the above and anything that I may have missed Cheers Chris
