You want to listen to a VR6 mate with induction kit when it hits 4000rpm.....
-
One of the reasons am thinking of dumping my induction kit on the VR6 is due to the horrible resonation I get around 4200 - 4500rpm and rattles the dashboard.... not all the time but mainly when gunning it in third gear up a bypass and waiting for revs to come up.... does my head in!
-
Yeah I agree - suspension or tyres.... I'm running Yokohama AVS Sport all round..... the suspension lets go before the tyres do.... 8) Awesome tyres and wear rate is low too - wet weather grip is miles better than old Dunlop Sports I had... £54 per corner
-
Well speaking to some G60 owners our VR6's are actually better on fuel.....I return 32mpg average
-
If 1 and 6 are fouling then either you have badly worn valve guides or you are suffering from bore ovalisation or possibly knackered oil control rings.... either way it will need stripping down!
-
Right -click.... save 8)
-
BUT ITS A ROVER!!!! WOOF!!!
-
Dont really notice any attention - I didnt buy a Corrado VR6 for attention - I bought it for the drive 8)
-
Scuse me - mitsubitchy is awful rice-mobil. In fact its one of the worst japcrap pseudo coupe's ever. .............and the Fiat Pedigree is Panda, Bravo/Brava, stilo, tempra, Tipo Regatta, Marea. They really are the kings of crap cars. As for dated, get a new dealer because that crap your smokin isn't good for you. - Its my opinion and I dont care for your attitude much either - if you havent got an intelligent arguement then suggest you keep quiet. :-P
-
Dont get me wrong the VR6 is simply awesome but its not the only decent sports coupe for the money these days.... (Still wouldnt sell mine though ;) )
-
God what have I started now To be honest having had Corrados now for nearly 5 years I reckon if had the choice would try something different... a FTO would be the first on my list in that price range.... If had a bit more to spend the Nissan 350Z or the new Alfa Romeo Coupe would get a look in
-
Dont get me wrong but a VR6 is a great car but I'd never pay anymore than £5k for one.... if they were more expensive than that I would have bought something else. £6k can now get you a FIAT Coupe 20V Turbo / Mitisubushi FTO GPX MIVEC / Etc.... both decent cars in there own right.. Also thinking the Corrado is now starting to look a little dated.
-
Thats nuts - I wouldnt pay £10k for a VR6.... there is alot of machinery that you can get for that money these days!!!
-
Autotek thats why..... :)
-
Not alot with the crank / piston / rod FUBAR... You would be better off putting a new crank / piston / rod in it and selling it as a complete unit - would get around £6 - 800 then would have thought.

Sounds like valve guides.... but burning that much oil with that mileage means could be a bit more than that - what are the plugs like ? No.1 and No.6 show any signs of fouling? Obviously oil consumption is down to how you drive a VR6.... I get around 2k miles per litre but hardly use the performance most of time.... Some VR6's burn alot, some dont use a drop.... is just the way it is

I can see that filtering the air more finely on a G60 is important due to being forced induction but I have a VR6. And the RAM AIR induction kit that gets cleaned once every six months and oiled properly. The packaging that comes with RAM AIR states that it filters better than ANY paper based filter full stop and is tried and tested it says! Combined with the fact I change the oil and filter on mine every 2500 miles means I really dont feel I have anything to worry about. But if you feel that strongly about it then I best start looking for a paper one  :-P
-
Well RAM AIR filters seem pretty refined and tested as rally cars use them in the desert...... :D A K & N Induction kit is just too loud to be honest

Specialist - £140 VW - Major is around £250

£630 fully comp with named driver, agreed value Car valued at £6000. 27yrs old, 7yrs NCB
-
Yup I had Corrado and Escort Diesel for MOT last week - both passed first time :D
-
I start mine up and let it idle for 30 secs before driving it away.... keep revs under 3k rpm till oil temp says 80 +...... When coming to turn engine off - let it idle for 30 secs so cool engine oil circulates then switch off... I have to do this with my turbo diesel so do same with Corrado *:)
-
# Whats up with foam Kev? - my RAM AIR is foam....
-
I have done this myself a few times.... I didnt bother covering anything except the alarm although I did use a air hose after to blow all the water off.... Use some decent engine cleaner on a cool engine Blast it off with jet wash Dry it out with a air hose Spray over with something to give a nice shine (I use autoglym ) Scott
