  1. Let me know how you get on mate as mine arent too tidy either! Cheers Scott
  2. Just checked them ta - they are fine *:)
  3. I know where that car is - isnt too far from where I live (30miles) - reason the car is overpriced is because the garage only deals in immaculate prestiege cars with low miles and FSH's then charge the earth for them.... I guess on one hand you will get a mint car with warranty but on the other dont expect to get much knocked off the asking price......... As for the car its been up for sale about two months so would be weary... although it might just be the price that is problem? Scott.
  4. Only a MOT he says... LOL :D Im bricking it - my VR6 goes in for its first ever MOT since I bought the car.... although given it a good check over still not sure if its going to pass.... my old 16V failed its first MOT and cost me about £400 to get through it... stuff like headlight, headlight switch, handbrake, etc..... but after that it went through two more MOT's without a problem!.... would have been three hopefully in Sept but my best mate wrote it off  Anyone know common failure points to watch on VR6 ? Scott.
  5. Well looks as though some of you guys have it as bad as me! 26yrs old, full NCB, one non fault accident in August.... Getting quotes of up to £2k... best had so far is £932... Thats with Quote Direct Online..... excess of £350 though....  Axa Direct I wouldnt touch with a barge pole by the way... am with them at present and gave me so much hassle over my non fault accident it was un real.... caused me a great deal of stress! Scott.

    engine

Hello mate, Right... the FPR is the Fuel Pressure Regulator... if you follow your fuel pipes that go into the injectors they go two ways - one towards air mass meter (sits on top of air filter) and injects petrol into the engine according to how much the throttle is open (flap distance inside air box) and the other way goes towards the FPR.... if you follow the pipes round by the dizzy then you'll see it underneath - a little steel block.... its this you need to change. If you need anymore info on how the K Jet injection works let me know cos have loads of it! *:) Cheers, Scott

    engine

Had exactly the same problem myself mate - you need to replace the FPR on the side of the engine underneath the dizzy.... will cure it. Scott.
  8. What plugs should the VR6 be running ? - am using Bosch at mo provided by G & S but have always used NGK's in past....... Any difference?
  9. Well Ive just been down to G & S and they say you should be running special pads with the zimmerman cross drilled discs.... as was thinking of buying the dics myself for the VR6... changed my mind a little when he started going on about they are only any good once you get some heat in them.... fine for my driving as I use the brakes quite hard but not so good for my other half *:) So got myself some standard OE front discs and pagid fast road pads for £90 all in *;) job done! Scott

    Fuel smell

Got same problem mate - same symptoms and its the fuel pipe that runs from the engine to the chassis member underneath the car.,.... take a look - only does it when cold.
  11. Wheres peak power on VR6? *:) Ive never taken mine above 6000 rpm 8)
  12. Anyone know where can get a 2 X 2 lead to connect to my laptop so that I can run the VAGCOM software ? Ross-tech want pretty much £200 which is a little heavy so anyone know where else can get one ? Cheers, Scott
  13. Dont bother guys - due to the way the cable routes it wears out the sleeve inside the cable at the bends - rather than mess about buy a new cable from VW (£15) and you will be amazed at the difference!!!!
  14. Suspect that is Inca Blue Metallic ........ I viewed a 1991 16V in that colour just before bought my old 16V Scott.
  15. Same size as the G60 then ? Strange that - with an extra 30bhp and heavier engine you would think VW would upgrade the front brakes! Scott
  16. All Corrados except 1.8 16V's are fine to run on unleaded although I know the VR6's and G60's do prefer super.... The reason 1.8 16v's need decent quality petrol is as stated they 'pink' under load (reducing throttle opening can reduce the pinking) - some 1.8's are seemingly fine to run on unleaded - mine was until it got to circa 80k miles then started to pink so maybe as a result of carbon build up in the cylinder head? If your 1.8 (K JET) does pink then you need to retard the timing with something like SAMS / K-STAR which will set you in £400-500 all in or run it on super or even optimax.... 1.8's have no provision for advancing or retarding the timing unlike VR6's, etc Scott
  17. Hi People! What size are the discs on the VR6 ? Any recommendations for a good front end setup without upsetting Mr Bank Manager ? Scott.
  18. Hi mate, If it is just modding only you really want to consider then the G60 is the better prospect full stop - you can get 200bhp relatively easy with a few well chosen mods and is relatively cheap to do.... The VR6 on the other hand is expensive to tune but does produce 190bhp from the outset.... a chip, cams, induction and exhaust with remap can see 215bhp... but will set you back about £1500 - 2000... I had this delimma myself and thought it would be unlikely for me to modify my Corrado as I have to use it as a daily driver... I also needed something refined and smooth that can hack motorway miles.... so I bought a VR6... dont regret it one bit - 60mph in just over 6 secs in standard form isnt to be sniffed at.... :D But in a few months I might just 'have' to buy a G60 to play with 8) Cheers, Scott

    corrado vr6

Couple more for you mate: Check the exhaust hangers on the exhaust - they break as exhaust is very heavy Check the CAT heat sheild as this breaks its retaining lugs and rattles on the over run.. A full service history is definately worth having - VR6's are specialised vehicles so any VR6 with missing history is likely to have been neglected... and I guess the most important thing of all is - does it feel right? Does it drive right? Look right? You'll only know this from test driving a few - I test drove about ten before I bought mine and I dont regret it :D 8)
