  1.  - get to 4000rpm and it sounds incredible..... everyone turns round too look when going past people 8) :D But otherwise its smooth and quiet if you keep the revs under 3000rpm so best of both worlds.....
  2. 104k miles.... bought with 94k on it in October  lol...

Naughty, Naughty, Naughty!!! When EVER you push the pistons back in on the calipers on a car that has ABS then you MUST un do the bleed nipples on the calipers before pushing the pistons back in.... this prevents over flowing the brake resv. but also prevents you from damaging the ABS!!!!! I would bleed the whole lot again - starting with the brakes then work your way to the master cylinder and then the slave cylinder...
  4. No butts - if you want to sell a car - Auto Trader - Ive sold hundreds of cars in the Auto Trader and most sold within 3 days of advert... well worth the money... As for chipping the 16V 1.8 - forget it .... the V sams or K star is mainly to advance / retard timing to prevent pinking... something the 1.8 does alot ... You would be better of spending money on a decent exhaust system and a flowed head (hiflowheads have one for sale for reasonable money)... if you want more power than that then a 2.0 bottom end bored to 2.1 is your best bet - but its alot of money for not alot of power..... NOS is one option... but expensive to run on the stuff .... There really isnt alot you can do to the engine to get decent gains as 136bhp for a 1.8 16V is pretty good going considering the design is over 10yrs old!
  5. Will see what I can do *:) I doubt it mate - first time I plugged my mates VR6 in it came up with over 100 faults.... so thought - right... we'll clear them and start again *:) - no faults then came up and havent done since *:)
  6. Ahh, the calm before the storm! Only joking, The filter looks sweet, its huge! is it a VR fitment or something else? Got any engine cleaning tips? LOL - Im not too fussed as doing the job anyway plus its not as though it was smoking like a train - just a little on the over run (top end).... VR6 fitment *:) Cleaning tips? Well I used plastic carriers and tape to protect the electrics then sprayed gunk every where - rubbed it in with a stiff brush then hosed it down with a garden hose.... I still smell the gunk in my nose now! LOL Remove bags and let it dry off... then apply some plastic cleaner to all the plastic / rubber hoses , etc.... Job done *:)
  7. Like I said I am happy with it *:)
  8. I dont have any problems with that..... it also has a cold air feed - 80mm alum piping...
  9. No I havent mate - the VR is not smoking anymore for some bizarre reason so dont feel rushed to do it but also lack of funds at moment is main problem... So going to leave it till prob end of next month (when hopefully its cooler)
  10. Yes but it does all Corrados up to 1993/4... Chris will also be there with his VAGCOM that does cars from 1994 onwards... But I can borrow the later lead anyway from a mate *;)
  11. email me and I'll send you a pic of a cream leather'd storm...
  12. Will do... SOOOOOOOOOO If anyone wants their ECU reading then come and give me a shout!!! I will be around an Aqua Blue VR6 with the first reg letters.... K416 !!! I will leave my name and number on the dashboard 8)
  13. You should be able to find a sensible low mileage 1.8 16V with a FSH and LOADS of history for under £2k.... If you go for the 1.8 16V - then ensure its on a 1991... as one of the last 1.8's and you get a decent spec unlike the early ones... Also if nothing else.... ensure that the engine does not pink as modifying the timing on them is very hard and quite pricey
  14. Coilovers.... no butts!
  15. Sorry I disagree - the 2.0 16V might have better mid range but it makes for a slower car that I felt is sluggish - the 1.8 16V is a buzz bomb and a lot more fun to drive.... parts also cheaper, cars are cheaper so cant fault it... When my 1.8 16V was smashed I thought a 2.0 16V was the way to go - I know my 1.8 was a cracker but I was pretty disgusted with how sluggish and slow the 2.0 felt when I test drove a few - one bloke who was selling one was trying to convince me the 2.0 was faster than the 1.8  - not so... Hence I bought a VR6... A G60 is a great car but buying a high miler could be very risky indeed.... My 2p. (kerplink!) Scott
  16. LOL *:) It will be M60 coming from north... on to M62.... then straight to Tatton Park via the A56...
  17. Anyone want me to bring mine along?
  18. It is actually quite normal when revving the engine high for the exhaust to splutter a little as it comes down through the revs.... its just the ECU chucking fuel into the exhaust   RPM for idle specified by VW is 680rpm....
  19. Since Oct with the VR6 but bought my old valver in March 2000...
  20. If you want low mileage (mileage isnt a issue on a VR6 as the engines arent run in until 80k + miles anyway!) then forget the storm.... as low mileage storms go for silly money.... Do a search on this forum and you will find lists, tips, etc on what to look for...
  21. I wont actually be going down the M6 mate.....
  22. Ok people – anyone coming down from North …..???? We are having a meet up on the Prestwich / Whitefield Junction of the M60 in the Tescos Car Park just off the motorway at 8am ish on Sunday morning so if anyone would like to meet up and join in the convoy then give me a shout!!! General Direction is M60 to M56 Cheers Scott
  23. I bought my old one with 64k miles mate *;) 3yrs ago mind now.... Lovely condition but why have you moved the badge on the grill ? It should be in the bottom right corner - picky I know but looks odd! *:)
  24. Awesome idea... but like you say its getting hold of them....
