Im pretty sure mate that you have nothing to worry about regarding your idle problem..... ( I assume this is your first VR?) the VR6 engine is not known as the smoothest of lumps on idle.... my needle on the rev counter stays glued at 650 - 700rpm at all times on idle yet I can feel the engine ticking over through the seat of my pants ..... this Im assured is perfectly normal - via VW and various specialists - what is more important is that the engine pick up is totally smooth.... By todays standards the VR6 engine is very 'agricultural' in somewhat 'layman' terms.... A slight off beat / misfire is actually how the engine should be - anything else means its likely to have been played with  Have a listen to another VR6 and sit in it with it ticking over and tell me that Im wrong?

Agreed - I remember removing mine from front NS.... took a hammer (club) and a screwdriver and chisel to remove it .... didnt look to good when I had removed it ..... getting the new one in was fun too

Once a week during winter as find it gets filthy after a day anyway - but in summer at least once ... prob twice to keep it looking shiny followed by a good wax every 4-6 weeks.... Also wash door shuts, wheel arches and petrol tank every week..........
-
That Demon Wax in Halfords is supposed to be tops for a quick after wash session...... pour it on and chamosis it off But yeah I have washed the car in rain many times *:)
-
On top of that watch the syncho on gearboxes... specifically crunching when changing from 3rd to 2nd..... and from 1st to 2nd gear especially on pre 1993 models.... as in 93 they strengthened the syncho using a different metal......... Door handles break.... easy to change but about £60 a piece.... Check for paint stickers on inside drivers front wing (orange) and looking down inside boot (white).... Check top mounts of VRs.... also front suspension and brakes as they get hard time due to weight of engine.... check rear brakes arent rusty.... Check front engine mount as they fail leaving dents in bonnet.... Check spoiler works ..... 8) Check front splitter as on pre 1993 models they can get a bit of a bashing over speed bumps, etc which can result in the front panel being bent, etc.... Should keep you busy *:)

Nah - the Corrado has decent recaro seats as standard anyway (the frames).... so I'd do the engine mods....
-
PM me and I'll send you a list I created before I bought mine .... quite a few common things to look out for.... if you do a search on the forum you'll also find plenty of tips....

Looking at your C's reflection while driving...

Guilty but no worse than eyeing totty up whilst driving *;) -
Platinum plugs arent required unless your a lazy git with servicing *:) Autotek come recommened from several people who have bought cars there including my mate who bought his Corrado Storm from there two years ago and still has it 8)

Correct.... my 91 had a 50mm inlet as standard.......

Well I found when my old valver started leaking that the outer window seal that goes at bottom of window - (the bit you stick you arm on when window down for cool pose :D ) had start to loose its shape and so water was getting in between the window and the seal - this runs down the door and out on to the carpet *:) Have a look *:)

I understand but I was simplifing the point - clutch needs doing? - do timing chains at same time - simple :D
-
Do it the other way round - wait till the clutch needs doing then get the timing chain and tensioners replaced at same time.....

Peak power on a VR is 5500rpm... therefore I change up between 5500rpm and 6000rpm.... Revving even harder as mentioned you will not gain anything from apart from possible damage to engine... One thing to note is that if you rev to 6500 - 7000 rpm when you change gear you will already be in the middle to end of the peak torque range.......
-
Middle front armrest... how to build one yourself !

Cool idea - but needs to be level with the top of the gear stick *:) -
you can actually get fined by police for drinking anything whilst driving.....
-
The calibra is just a cavalier with a fancy bodyshell.... Also it doesnt say which Corrado he had - the Cally V6 is NO match for the Corrado VR6 .... My mate had a cally for 3yrs and always thought my Corrado was the better car..........
-
Well Ive used mine lots of times and a few other peoples too and works fine 8)

Go to Ross-tech website - can download shareware version from there which is goof enough to read fault codes
-
Its a cracking piece of kit - I have one. It takes a pro a long time and making alot of noise to get one off... is also CAT 3 approved... but most of all it acts as a visual deterrent something your immobilisers and alarms dont always do.... Im running a sigma CAT 1 alarm and immobiliser but still use the disklok when Im out in town, etc
-
Anyone is welcome to use it but I would prefer not to post it around all over the UK! *:) I travel quite a bit anyway so can meet anyone up. Also you need VAGCOM software and a laptop to run it. On a further note I only have the interface for VW's up to 1993... the OBD 2 plug I do not have....... Cheers Scott
-
Well perhaps I should re-phrase what I wrote!!! What I am saying is anyone is welcome to use my VAGCOM should they need it!!!
-
Am showing off I was luckily enough to have a good friend make me one who happens to be a electronics engineer
-
I already have VAGCOM for personal use 8)

Yup and bought mine from ebay too.... I got it from a trader who only gets rid of his part exchanges through ebay as its quick and easy for him.... He is a japanese car specialist and need the VR6 off the forecourt ASAP - I dont regret one bit of it *:) - I also got a bargain.
