I kinda like it to be honest. The front looks a little odd and find it hard to make a decision whether i like it or not, but the back looks great. I hate the way the rear arches have been done though, looks like that dodgy max pooer project astra they did with comedy 'body kit' that was 10ft wider than the car and those stupidly big sweeping wheel arches.

Red G plate 16valve (i think) I parked in front of you near medina's italian restaurant off wellington street, leeds last night. Non-standard wheels. Seen it about Leeds now and again, no response on here as of yet.

Yea, i've had a leaky rack since I got the car in March but has just got worse recently, hence my booking it in. It;s not in a Stealth, a little too far for me being in Leeds! The £550 covers new rack (quoted at £280ish exchange), track rod ends, geometry set up, fluid and labour at £140+vat.

Snap! Mines in on thursday, same stuff. Leaky rack will finally be sorted. £550 all in :( Goes against my principles spending that much getting something fixed, but alas. This time I can't do it meself really. Hope the steering feels better too, it's fine at the mo but a tiny bit skittish and tramlines into ruts lots etc, not lowered either. Not sure if this is normal or what, I assume not.

if the mileage is genuine and it's had no prangs of course. -
Sounds like a lot to do! You think after getting the tricky/main stuff done by a machine shop and paying £80 for the head to start with, i'm gonna end up saving on just taking it to a garage and saying "head job please" and lobbing down a bunch of cash? To be honest, I've not had mine off yet so don't know the condition - could end up being just the guides/seals, or could be worse. But I haven't seen many used cylinder heads for sale and thought it might be a good opportunity to get intimate with the thing and learn all about it. What ya reckon?

As above: what work is actually done when reconditioning as VR6 cylinder head? I'm going to buy a used one from someone on this forum so i can have a play with it and understand exactly how they work etc. I assume i'll have to get new guides and get them pressed in by an engineering shop, and it comes with new valve stem seals ready to go on, but what else in involved in reconditioning? Just general cleaning up or is there something major i'm not thinking about? Cheers for any info!

Never put any claim through insurance companies systems if you can help it, even if you pay for it yourself and get to keep your no-claims discount. They'll still have a claim on record, and we all know how snidey ins companies are for bumping up prices etc.
-
Sounds very suspect at that price to be honest! Whats wrong with it?

it's pissing out fluid from a join in the middle of the rack, which is an odd place as it's usually the seals that go. Think it's probably had a smack on the wheel at some point in it life which could cause the join in the middle the break slightly. Something ike that anyway. Had a big discussion on the leaky rack a while ago on here, but I managed to slow the leak right down so have just put off sorting it for a while. But now it's leaky pretty badly, and pissing onto the exhaust! Need to sort it before my car goes up in flames really... lol Not driving it at the mo cos of this, but i'm gonna shield it from spraying on the exhaust tonight so i can get it to the garage next week. Nightmare.

What are your opinions on this dilemma. My steering rack is fookered. Just been quoted £558 to fit a new one on an exchange basis from IVC in leeds. The new rack they would be getting in is £240+vat. This is a lot of money, so would you guys a) bite the bullet and shell out for the new unit and labour :( or b) try get hold of a cheaper one (recon or second hand whatever), and then get them to fit it saving me money in the short term, but running the risk of having to do it again at some point... I'm skint and spending that amount of money is a bit of a biatch at the moment!

Drop my friend Alex an email at http://www.edgetuning.co.uk - They have started to get tyres in now and are doing some really good prices. (Comparable to mytyres.co.uk I think!)

I like the term he uses: beauty. -
I've had a £250 voucher sat in my name for the last like 4 years or something stupid... Yea, i'm crap ok, but i'm gonna do it soon. Was thinking to chip in the extra £75 or whatever it is and do the 6 hours rally driving experience. Sounds pretty good. I thought about the ferraris to start with but then realised they would probably not enjoy you thrashing them round the track much. Anyone done the rally day?

What version is ETKA on now? I downloaded version 5 the other day, but it seems very limited in the information it actually has. Is there a later one? If so, what version is it now?

is that an old Reiger kit? Looks like a right 80's throw-back!

Red H reg G60 in centre of Leeds last night, approx 10pm. Big fella, kicking off with some drunken lads for giving him shit at the lights as they walked past. Funny thing was, there were about 5 lads and one of him and they shit it. I pissed myself as I walked right past him where he stopped, then he ragged it off up to the next set of lights. Sounded pretty nice.
-
btw, my girl has a red Y reg, 1.1 =] I keep telling her i'm going to commandeer it one of these days and stash it away in a garage somewhere to go to work on.

woaah! old skool! Look at the tiny rims, they look so dwarfed in those arches. Looks like a fairly tidy example tho fella. Whats your plan, or is it a secret?
