would be good to see the quality of output, at the moment I've got a vision of something that looks like a melted stickle-brick

if you can't find one then they're not very well finished anyway and a homemade panel can be made simply and to look just as good

rotting headgaskets, not a biggy if you're handy with spanners as the gaskets and bolts are cheap, but a fair sized job nonetheless, front and side water flanges leak with age and then there's the usual corroded oil cooler if the coolant hasn't been changed regularly, some of the engine wiring isn't that well protected from heat and the elements and can get a bit manky including head earth strap. Old 8v heads do tend to burn oil from old valve stem seals, not always due to the actual guides being worn though, if the headgasket needs changing check the guides and definitely replace the stem seals

with one missing top tab :-(

That's the wheel I have on my corrado, bought new in '98, only mine is the oem wheel size, 300mm is tiny not sure I'd like to drive with that TBH

I've done this several times on different cars, removing and refitting the spline too, to remove it I found a good approach was sitting it just nipped up in a vice with the thin shoulders above the vice jaws and hammering the shaft from the top with a nut in place to prevent damaging the top of the column, without the proper vw puller it's nigh on impossible with pullers

another candidate for 3D printing I reckon

to be fair I had a gloss black painted 7 slat early grille on my 16v for several years before I noticed it was painted, a late grille might not look as good as the bars are thicker, colour coded doesn't look great on a corrado although it's not that noticeable if it's a dark colour and the headlight surround aren't done to match.

it's a corrado, not a rat look camper! - hammerite bbq paint, I ask you!
-
ABF head has lighter valve components and a slightly better design for flow, ABF cams are probably the best for power too
-
Corrado only I'm afraid

yes, I'm sure they are, I used a polo one I'm not sure why you are having trouble though, you just need to slide it back to the original length a few pics of yours would help seeing what you have done

You've popped the rollers off the end of the arms have you

is citreon saxo 1.5 diesel a good car? and where to go for insurance.
davidwort replied to redhotpq's topic in Off-topic Chat
I'd probably go for something like a petrol 1.6 focus, far better built car, nicer to drive, most have air-con and unlikely to have need of expensive repairs like an old diesel, they'll do well over 40mpg and unless you are doing over 15k miles a year the maths don't add up for a diesel. An old saxo, I'd rather spend my time sat in a skip TBH. -
I've no idea about this stuff really, but here is my cat:

it's a PITA, the bumper iron is held in by barbed plastic tabs on the bumper cover itself and little wedges to hold the barbs out, wedges come out OK but the barbs are a pain to squeeze and push through the iron, you need lots of wedging and pliers and so on or the ones you've just released lock back in place! Be gentle too as with too much force you'll break off the tabs. Then when all that is done even the lower grille is a bit of a pain, more plastic barbs and levering with screwdrivers, again six pairs of hands would help!

I've taken stuff back to the counter before no problem, had a steering lock that had a rubbish bearing in it that fell apart and an engine mount that was too hard amongst other things, all refunded no issue.
-
I've no idea, but it doesn't seem to be a problem, I've used old paint before and as long as you mix it well it seems fine? This is celly basecoat, I may put a 2 pack clear over it but only because it is very hard wearing. It was a major priority to get a double garage when I moved, I've now got some carpet on the floor, much nicer to lie on :) I would have even more room but the Mrs has a running machine in there now which takes up half the garage!
-
What an awful mistake, he was never going to purr nicely after a dose of terraclean...
-
unfortunately yes, take it all out, remove the steering lock, take the outer tube off, clamp the inner column in a vice and hammer/tap the two halves apart a bit again, doesn't need hitting hard. actually, no I don't think you do need to remove the lock!

A few more thoughts, if it really does shift deposits and EGR crud I'd be wary of using it on a diesel with a DPF, and after having physically ground deposits off the back of valves refurbing an old cylinder head I'm surprised anything would shift that other than emery strip and a drill! If all it's doing is improving injectors then an ultrasonic clean with injectors off the car may be a better investment, at least you get accurately measured results and visual spray pattern checks.

Ha, I wish, no, unfortunately it's a small town smack in the middle of the UK
